IceWave X8500 Disposable
Welcome! Today we'll be looking at a brand of disposables I'd never heard of before being sent review samples. As far as I know, this is IceWave's first product release which is pretty cool to be a part of. The parent company ICCPP also makes VooPoo, Zovoo Dragbars, as well as other product lines, so the design and build quality of the IceWave is not unfamiliar territory. Mainly what sets this disposable apart from others is the adoption of a large screen and its artistic aesthetic. We'll get a bit more into that further into the review.
I want to thank Hillary over at VooPoo for sending this product out. Any thoughts or opinions mentioned within this review are strictly my own, and as always this critique will be conducted in a fair and honest manner.
Alright, let's get into it.

Specs & Packaging
- REVIEW TESTING & OBSERVATIONS -
Each disposable comes individually packaged with the flavor and design pictured on the outside of the box. Inside each box, the product is sealed inside a plastic sleeve, with a rubber insert in the mouthpiece, and a bottom sticker to protect the USB Type-C charging port and the airflow hole. There is no recharge cable and the samples that I received did not include a user manual. Whether it does or doesn't include a user manual, disposables are meant to be easy to use, and that's exactly what the X8500 does well. I don't quite see the use in one.
As far as I know, 50 mg/mL (5%) nicotine concentration is the only available option as of right now, so that's something to be aware of if TPD regulations apply to you. There are 16 available flavors in total ranging from various combinations of fruits, to mint, to tobacco, to a flavor option labeled "Clear". I'm not entirely sure what "Clear" is and I wish I'd have been sent this flavor to give you a better idea on what it tastes like. I'm guessing it's an absence of any flavor, and has a light menthol kick? Even the flavors that don't mention "Ice" or "Mint" in their names have menthol in them, so that is the reason I'm thinking Clear has some. Who Knows.
I received Strawberry Banana, Blackberry Ice, Strawberry Kiwi, Vanilla Casta Tobacco, and Fresh Mint. The inhale in all of them have a very pronounced mint sensation. I'd go as far as to say that the inhale is 70-80% mint with a hint of the of other flavors. However, on the exhale, is where you predominantly get the rest of the flavorings. I must admit that the flavor profile in the 5 disposables I received is very accurate to their names. Of the 5, the only one that had a taste that I wasn't all that familiar with was the Vanilla Casta Tobacco. I want to say that the Vanilla came off as more of a Peanut Butter-ish flavor, but then again, I've had Vanilla protein shakes that also tasted a bit peanut buttery. It's not a bad combo at all - I actually like the way the Vanilla Casta and Tobacco flavors blend. The Fresh Mint resembles that of gum or toothpaste.
IceWave X8500 Exterior
The artistic design is something different than what we're normally used to seeing in disposables. My recent review of the Zovoo Dragbar B6500 is a great example of this contrast. Each X8500 flavor has a unique graffiti-style look which comes off a bit bold and aggressive, but that appears to be the aim. I lent a coworkers of mine one of these disposables and one of his observations was that it didn't feel as embarrassing pulling the IceWave out of his pocket as it did when the design had more of a pastel or tropical color scheme, such as with the Dragbar B6500. I hadn't really thought of this, but it shows that the design of the X8500 does have some impact on the choices we make when choosing what we're vaping.
On the front side along the bottom (left picture), there's a futuristic reflective folder or box outlining the 0.75" screen that points at the battery life status and the amount of juice that's remaining in the device. On the back side is where you can find the flavor profile.
The entire device is made of hard plastic which is pretty common with disposables, making each unit very light and pocket-friendly.
The mouthpiece is very oblong in shape making it very comfortable and easy to seal between your lips. This is ideal for an MTL (mouth to lung) style of vape, especially when it's auto-draw dependent like the X8500 is.
I would categorize the airflow as a loose MTL. From the disposables that I've tested, this seems to be a rather common airflow setting. Being that it's a loose MTL, you can even draw from it like you would an RDL (restricted direct lung) which is a direct inhale to the lungs, but it's pretty tight for an RDL. The auto-draw sensor is very quick to activate using both styles of inhale and I have yet to experience any hiccups with the sensor.
On the bottom of the device is where you'll find the USB Type-C charging port and the airflow hole. There's a hole positioned between the USB port and the airflow hole, but I'm not entirely sure what this does, if anything at all. It doesn't light up and I covered it while inhaling and it doesn't affect the draw in any way, so my conclusion is that it's likely part of the assembly process.
Here's a close-up look at the display while not charging. On the left is the percentage of battery life left, and on the right is a 4-tier indicator that measures the remaining juice left in the device. I'm not quite sure how the X8500 tracks the quantity of juice left, but I am fairly certain that you can expect at least 6000 puffs from each device.
In the testing I've done for the 5 devices, I've yet to get this indicator to drop below the 2nd tier (this picture still shows 3 tiers of juice remaining and was taken about 2 weeks ago), and I hit the Strawberry Kiwi particularly hard to try and get an idea of how quickly the juice dissipates. While I did not count the amount of puffs I took from this device, it was my daily driver to and from work (which is 1.5 hours one-way) for about 3 weeks straight. I'm not a puff machine by any means, but I'd estimate 50-100 puffs for each leg of the drive, and that doesn't include me puffing on this while sitting at home either.
When plugged in and recharging, there's a small lightning bolt that begins to blink seen in the photo above.
The USB-C charging port charges at 0.5A and takes about an hour to fully recharge from dead. The parameters mention that it houses a 600 mAh battery, but it's not uncommon in vape products to see this capacity rating be embellished a bit for internal battery devices. Based on the charging speed and the time it took to fully recharge, I'd estimate this battery closer to 500 mAh, which really doesn't mean much. You will certainly have plenty of battery life to puff away for at least a day with the battery capacity it has whether it's 600 mAh or 500 mAh.
The Type-C charging port does read a 3.0 QC (quick charging) cable, so for any android users, you're able to use your phone chargers for this X8500. This device does not support pass-through vaping, so you will not be able to puff on it while it's plugged in. It does recharge fairly quickly however, so it shouldn't take very long to get some life back into the device for further vaping.
- CONCLUSION -
There really isn't anything I can fault against the IceWave X8500. It vapes flawlessly and is quite accurate in the 5 flavors I was sent to review. Some might say that it should include a Type-C charger, but I think that would be a huge waste, especially in use-and-dump disposables.
The 0.75" screen is easy to read and is a great addition to any vape product simply to help keep track of what's remaining on the device. In terms of accuracy, I'm quite pleased with both the battery indicator and the juice indicator from what I can tell.
I'm a bit torn on the design targeting "youth" expression, since the whole reason the vape industry is under such strong regulation and scrutiny is greatly because of disposable vapes and their influence on the youth. I realize that inclusivity is important in our society, but I can't say I agree with where the design marketing went with the X8500. Something other than tropical color schemes is great, but let's try and keep the youth out of the picture when it comes to vaping.
If you're not a fan of ice/mint, these are quite strong on the inhale. I will however say that they're definitely not the strongest I've tested. The exhale is quite pleasant which is a great counter to the minty inhale.
My opinion will always remain that disposables have a place in the vaping industry specifically for people trying to quit smoking. They're very easy to use and a great introduction to vaping. If that is you, then I will say look no further if one or more of these flavor profiles seems to fit what you're looking for. On the other hand, I have a bias against disposables in the larger scheme of things simply because I think they're a huge waste of plastic and lithium polymer batteries. I realize not everyone is concerned about these things, but I wish they would be.
If your intent is to use the X8500 to slowly convert over to a refillable vape device, then I fully support and endorse The IceWave X8500. Please remember to recycle disposables to the appropriate local recycling centers taking in lithium polymer batteries.
Overall Rating

And that's all I have for you folks. If you're looking for a disposable with a decent mint kick, great flavor, and an indicator screen for battery life and juice, then the IceWave X8500 is a stellar choice. To get a better look at it, I'd recommend visiting IceWave's site here, for a much better visual presentation and show of features. If you're interested in what ICCPP is up to, I recommend taking a peek at their site here. As always, I appreciate you taking the time to read this review, and...
Happy vape hoarding!
