I want to use my passthrough on my electric scooter -12V batteries

First time poster long time lurker.
I use an electric scooter (like old granny type) to get around - it runs on 2 x 12V (75Amp) batteries (like marine batteries - huge heavy things).
As I really really like my passthrough and would love to be able to use it when out and about I have been trying to figure out if I can somehow get adapters to link a passthrough to the headlight link (as currently headlight is missing so I have an available 'socket'.
I am NOT electrically inclined and have a VERY LIMITED understanding of all things mechanical - so does anyone know of someone already doing this? Or have any ideas about how difficult or easy this might be??

Thanks for reading this,
happy vaping,
Amanda

Sorry can do 650mA - one like so - http://www.envirogadget.com/alterna...-power-pack-hand-powered-generator/#more-4848

Ta Sicarius,

I wondered if where I usually plug in the charger (a 3 pin socket) I can plug something in that reverses the power (so I am using power from 12 V batteries) and then just find adapters that convert that to something that will eventually be able to have a pass through attached (eg 3 pin to 2 pin to usb - voila???) but as I said I have no knowledge in this area - so am hoping that not only will someone know what to do but that they'll be able to explain it to me (or explain how/why it should/can/shouldn't/can't work.

I do have a friend with reasonably good electric ability and who can do the chop and changes but he is not confident enough to just do it - we need a good plan with explanation before any attempts are made.

Oh well,
more fun finding new stuff out.

If the scooter runs on 12 volt DC batteries it would be a pretty simple matter to install an automobile-type cigarette lighter socket to it, then use a USB adapter in that. My only concern would be the extra drain on your scooter's batteries, which I expect wouldn't be a problem unless you do a lot of scooting between charges. :D

BTW, if you choose to go that route be sure your friend (or whoever installs the socket) puts an inline fuse in the circuit just as a safety precaution. Happy Scooting/Vaping! :vapor:

Hooking a cigarette lighter socket to the scooter & a USB adapter is the best idea. I doubt that the passthru would affect the charge on the battery much. Remember that a 650 mah battery powers an 1.5 ohm cartomizer all day, I think 2 - 250 Ah (at least) batteries can do it also! If it drew 2 amps constantly over a long period of time it would dischange the battery, but not 2 amps for seconds at a time over a course of a day, it wouldn't affect it very much.

I'll throw this out there for the sake of asking.........

How are the two batteries wired in the scooter ? Are they in series or perhaps parallel ? It would make a would of difference in suggesting configurations.

Any chance you have the manual or documentation with some specifications on it that you can share ? Or even the make and model, as well as the year or even serial number if its available.

You just never know with the mass and knowledge base of ECF..... you just might run across someone in the know with a workable suggestion and a simple set up to make it work for you.

Good luck in your search...... it's an interesting convenience concept for sure.

Thanks peeps for all your suggestions and ideas.
I think I'm in over my head - so will get my electrically aware friend to read through this thread and explain stuff to me.

Smokum - I actually know that the batteries are in series!
I do have technical manual on my puter - so all sorts of info in there.
Scooter is a Breeze 3 wheeler made by Afikim.

Anyone who can tell me more about using a portable charger with a pass through? Will I get the experience I'm looking for? The main reason I want to use the passthrough is that I find my batts just don't give me the vaping 'oomph' that the passthrough does. I had a look at the link from Sicarius and that could be enough IF it will give me the vaping experience I want.

DummyMe - I scoot for up to 2 hours at a time, but as you say - I wouldn't be vaping continuously.

Warren - what is the purpose of an inline fuse in the circuit - I assume it acts like a safety switch to stop any attached bits draining or damaging my scooter batteries??? (Please remember I have a totally non science brain).

Thanks again all, looking forward to expanding my knowledge.

When you said granny sccoter I thought you meant like Vespa.

A mobility scooter - now that makes more sense. Had a look through the manual and the headlamp is rated at 12V, the rest of the electrics at 24V. You have a few options, but the easiest would be a modified headlight bulb (to get the contacts and frame) with an in-line fuse and a car charger (12V) with a USB outlet. For a descent vaping experience you looking at 5-7W and the unit I linked to (at 650mA) will only give you 2.4W so you need an adapter with a rating of 1000-1500mA at 5V.
