I had never seen anyone mention this. I often hear “oh, hold it in your mouth.” Which to me is painfully obvious.

I simply draw the vapor into my mouth and instead of inhaling thru my mouth I shut my mouth and gently inhale through my nose. It seems when u do it this way u can be more careful, and have way more control over how much of the vapor (vapor to air ratio) that you inhale. It is just too easy on a vape to accidentally draw in too much, and I found lowering the wattage in no way helped because the small hits were just as bad.

Now for the first time not only did I not cough in the slightest I actually got a nicotine buzz for the first time that of which actually feels like I’m smoking.

I felt the need to post this because I hated vaping because of this(had tried several times since they were first released), and now for the first time I’m not only enjoying it, but I actually believe I can quit smoking this time. I hope this helps someone.

Also, I have to note that people would say oh it’s because your cilia is growing back but that makes no sense when u stop smoking and start vaping the same day.

Wow i've never heard of this. If I draw into my mouth and breath through my nose, it still stays in my mouth. I have to either swallow or inhale through my mouth in order to get the vapour to my lungs..an I missing something or doing it wrong?

Well I kind of use my tongue I guess to move it back while breathing in my nose. I wish I could explain it better, but I just kind of move my tongue to the top of my mouth while breathing in.
Like you’ll notice when u swallow your tongue goes to the top of your mouth as u create suction to swallow.. its like that but without actually swallowing..

Since the majority of the nic is absorbed within the mouth, nose and throat, it is not necessary to deeply inhale into your lungs. Most of us do tho, because that is how we smoked. And that behavioral habit is hard to break.
I read that, but like you said idk it just doesn’t feel right unless I fully inhale.. maybe just a bad habit but it feels like I get more nicotine. If it can make it to the lungs before it is absorbed I’m assuming it would still hit faster and stronger.
Like I said this is the only time I’ve actually enjoyed a vape..

I found this a long time ago while I was learning how to vape and not cough. Once you've taken that pull and inhale too hard(like you use to do with a cig) or have metal to metal contact on the coil head wraps causing overheat then burn your throat and tickle the throat causing you too cough that tickle-to-cough doesn't go away for a while but gets aggravated with every pull...
I've learned to inhale the reasonable vape for the fix and just mouth vape the large cloudz pulls so one doesn't cough from both too much vapor and getting a nic buzz ending up in a headache.

Vaping does not use the same technique as taking a pull on a cigarette. Slow and gentle draws is key.
1.Take your index finger and place it against your open lips.
2.Close your lips around your finger to create a seal.
3.Begin to suck gently.
4.When you feel the vacuum on your finger, this is how hard you should pull when taking a vape.
5.To maximise nicotine absorption, hold the vapour in your mouth for a couple of seconds before exhaling/taking the vapour down into your lungs. Nicotine will be absorbed via the mucous membranes in your mouth (via cheeks/gums).

It can be a good strategy for new vapers or dual users I guess. You can do Mouth to Nose, heck, when I vaped after oral surgery I vaped nasally. It worked, and while I'm sure it was partly due to being passed out from pain much of the time, I used much less vapor than usual. Mucus membranes are particularly effective delivery methods for some things, one of the reasons why quitting a dipping habit can be quite hard and require higher nic.

I usually inhale (I prefer it, as it was how I smoked) there's plenty of nic absorbed through the mucus membranes whether you inhale or not.

Glad to see another method, because it does take the lungs some time to acclimate to vapor and i bet alot give up before. Although it's not the same as holding the vape in the mouth for a while, then inhaling, it's close because I'm sure there is a delay and dilution in this method as well....anyways I'm glad it's working out and in no time you will be able to draw various ways

I had same question too back then when I start to vape. I was a heavy smoker before I choose to vape, so when I take my first inhale of vape, I usually inhale like a normal cig (it was 6mg of nicotine) and not cough. And I was coughing when I try to inhale 12mg. For me, there's no such a technique to inhale without coughing, you will "upgrade" your nicotine level once your body cannot feed by 6mg .

its called french inhale... you slowly push the "puffed" stuff out of your mouth while inhaling thru the nose and the vapor enters the nose...

I have been on and off vape since it started. Everytime you switch from cigs to vape you cough a lot. I have come to find that the cough is highly correlated with what juice you are vaping. I think the coughing dissapates relative to the amount of VG. Higher by for me means less harshness on inhale. Make sure your temp is not too high and the cotton is good and saturated. Please find a high quality e juice as well.

I coughed a lot dual using, but I coughed a bunch at that time in any case. I will say that after a few days JUST vaping (and *after* having figured out my PG sensitivity) things smoothed out. Higher VG is much less hard on the throat, I have found (at least for me). I use distilled water to think my vape.

With coughing, if it's extreme, the culprit can often be too high VG or too high nicotine (when attempting to DL on a 0.25 coil, I think it was at 12 m.g nicotine, I coughed a bunch too. I did far better on MTL setups and still prefer them. But if you are having trouble inhaling your vape and you wish to, you could try changing those two areas and see how you get on....

Best of luck,

Anna
