I know I'm late to the party on this one but I'm pretty sure I just got a counterfeit EVOD from an online retailer on the east coast. I really have no way to totally confirm it so I wouldn't name them or anything, but just keep the ol' eyes peeled.
On this one, I noticed once I started filling the
tank with
juice for the first time, my
juice was pouring out from the mouthpiece as fast as I could squirt it in the tank. On further inspection, I've noticed it's leaking threw the little plastic seam on each side of the tip.. possibly all the way around but not that I can tell. So that was odd, as I've got 12 EVOD's and have never had a problem at all with them, other than after a long time, the mouthpiece will develop a crack from being in my pocket at work or biting down on it. Then I started really looking at it... now I've had EVOD's that were sold as genuine Kangertech, most with the little engraved Kangertech(r) EVOD logo on the ego thread section. One or two that I've ordered, which were sold as Kangertechs, had EVOD printed on the bottom of the tank itself, like along the bottom of the colored section.... Now come to this one. In the past, no matter WHERE the logo was, it was clean, and looked right. This one is the engraved style, but the logo and EVOD are incredibly muddy looking, almost illegible, with a darker kinda foggy look around the lettering, like they were burnt in or something. Look closer and compare it to one I've used at work for about 9 months, and there's more differences: The logo being "muddy" looking, the ego threading section is actually a different finish on the metal, and there's a few other little differences. Kinda adding some credence to the idea that it may in fact be a fake, is that it came from the same retailer I bought an Ego C Twist from a couple of months ago and the finish started peeling off, I .... you not- one week after I received it.. and no I never even brought it out to work or anything. I couldn't trust it at work, because sometimes it would charge, and then sometimes it would say it was charged and it really wasn't, or I'd wake up in the morning after leaving it on the charger planning on carrying it with me, only to find out that it hadn't charged AT ALL. Sure, I know someone may get a bad battery rarely, but couple in the .... finish, it popping apart in my pocket- walking around the house, and then the rest... and I've decided that it's time for me to learn my lesson on dealing with that retailer. Last order I made when I needed some stuff, I placed the bulk of what I needed with one store, as I needed it right away and couldn't afford any .... ups from a shop that's gone shady, and then the EVOD and two 5 packs of atomizer heads with the shop in question, just trying to give them one more chance. Lesson learned.
Just be aware guys, which I'm sure everyone knows anyway, but just a reminder- the whole fakes thing really does go on, even when buying from "reputable" retailers.
