Many people may find this funny, but I vape at 5 watts, and I build my coils with a single 28mm wire, 1.5mm ID, and 5 wraps.

I only vape MTL and use kayfun's.

A single 2ml tank will last me most of the day, and batteries close to 2 days.

I just want a cigarette "like' experience to keep me from smoking (have not smoked a cigarette in well over 3 years now), and see no reason why I need anything more out of a vape.

So tell me about you...

Yeah those watts are interesting. I dont get much vape on my coil if my watts are that low. I am not into the high watt stuff either. Generally, I vape around 12 watts on a 27 gauge coil, with 8 or 9 loops in the Kanthal wire. I get a lot more vape out of the extra loops.

You should try a 27 gauge coil, they are a stronger thicker metal and when you change the wick the wires dont bend as much.(But if the coil gauge is to low, the wire is hard to work with.)

I would like to see a thread with picture of setups, and specifics of the coil and the name of the atomizer. I think it would help people who are trying to find that just right RTA.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Assuming that's kanthal, looks like you vape at around 0.7 ohms. lower if SS or Ni80. How long do you have to press the fire button to get any vapor? How many seconds are your puffs (roughly).

Well that's all that matters.

I used to use Kayfun lites. I really liked the vape I got from them, but I hated having to take the little screw out of the bottom to fill them. I switched to eGo One Mega V2s a couple of years later. They were a lot easier to fill and I grew to like getting more airflow through them than the Kayfuns. Also, if you dry burn and rewick the CLR coils, you can sometimes make a coil last a year.

Now I've switched to True MTL RTAs. I like the size and looks of them better than the eGo Ones, and they're a lot easier to rebuild and rewick. I've been using 30 ga Kanthal wire for years. I make 5 or 6 wrap spaced 2.5 mm coils that I vape at about 8 watts.

You'd be a Tootle Puffer.

8.5 w 28 ga spaced 2.5 id 7 wraps here. :thumb:

That sounds awfully familiar! My standard coil at the moment is SS316l, 28 g spaced 2.5 ID, 7 wraps. I don't know what my actual wattage is because I use TC: 215 C, 15 w.

11.5 watts, 29g kanthal, five 2.5m wraps, Tight MTL on a Kayfun Prime. Flavoured D.I.Y - 24mg's - 68% VG / 32% PG (just re stocked with a litre of Nicotine liquid). I vape the same way i always have . Two draws in a five second period, because it's the only way to get a decent throat hit. Re-wick when the tank dries up. It's routine, and i have been doing this for years.

Sometimes I use 30 gauge wire with same diameter and same number of wraps. I space my coils too so probably could get more wraps if I didn't space them.

Thicker wire takes longer to heat up, so at 5 watts with my setup it takes about 3 to 5 seconds to get a vape that is about equal to a cigarette.

My daily wattage is:
Mornings- at coffee, RDAs (wotofo Troll rda and Ice cube3 rda)--40-45W ~ 0.2-0.3ohm
At work- ZeusX, Zeus dual--30w (0.24ohm) and Trons (CLRcoils)--14-18w
Evenings- only Trons (~1ohm)--12-18w
Weekends- the same, except drinking -- when everything becomes haotic lol

Very recently converted to mtl clapton wire.

Now all my RTAs have 6 or 7 wrap 2.5mm id 30*2/40 ni80 single coils, which I vape at 23-25 watts, MTL.

RDAs have 5 or 6 wraps of the same coil as above. The 5 wrap coils ~0.62ohms are on unregulated squonk mods at whatever wattage the voltage gives me. The 6 wrap is 316L I run on a TC squonk mod at 405F, 25w.

I start my day with MTL drop-in coil at 16 watts. Then have a small pod for morning "vooping" (fixed power... don't know but maybe around 10 watts) Then a restricted DL drop-in coil at 30 watts. Then back to MTL. Then who knows (mostly restricted DL both drop-ins and RTAs) and late in the evening might bust out the full blown DL tank at 54 watts.

Depends on the setup for me.

.7 ohm kanthal round wire coil on a mech. No watts to set so whatever the battery is giving me.

.4-.7 ohm coil on a regulated squonker at 15-40 watts. In this case it depends on the type of wire. The .4 is a dual clapton setup and needs the 40 watts. The .7 is a roundwire kanthal build at 15 watts

Strangly I am perfectly happy with a stock 1.2 ohm coil in a protank. So I can do pretty much any range and find an acceptable vape. Tootle puffer or not.

15W on a 1.5ohm coil, 5-6 wraps of 0.3mm kanthal (whatever gauge that is)..non spaced mostly, depending what mood i'm in or if i can be bothered to find my glasses when i rebuild.
Quite frankly i am disgusted with myself - i used to be content with 7-8 watts back in the day. :(;)
