How a home made mech mod works?

Hi I'm just curious I plan on making a mech mod but I need more info on how they work......1st...does it have to be a copper tube can I use any metal tube? 2nd for it to be a mech mod its not supposed to have wire how do I connect the connecter to 18350 battery?

1) from materials that we actually use, copper has the best conductivity. Then you have in order, aluminum, brass and stainless steel.

2) In a simple setup, a mech uses the body to conduct the negative through the body to the connector itself. The switch interrupts the contact between the body and the battery negative. The positive of the battery is in constant contact with the positive pin of the connector and no wiring is needed. Keep in mind there are variations on this concept, but that is the bare bones of it.
