Getting ready to order a mod kit from madvapes. The kit instructions say to use either epoxy or hot glue. Which is preferred? What are the pro/cons of either. I thought the hot glue would be easier to remove if needed, but I'm sure there is probably some benefit of using epoxy instead. Which was used in the pictures for the instructions of madvapes site?

In my experience which is not much, epoxy is stronger and is best used around connector. I have seen hot glue used on other components to secure them. If you are making a vv I would have both, but for a 3.7v mod I would just buy some epoxy. I use gorilla brand on mine because I know it holds well.

Thanks for the tip. Also I'm new to vaping. I just started out using a KR808 style PV, so I'm used to having just a carto & battery. With the 510 style, I need to buy both a atty and cartridges? I see a couple different kinds of both attys/cartos for the 510 style. Which would you recommend I buy for this mod? Should I get the dual coil kind? It's a 5 Volt mod, not a 3.7v.

Cartridges are a thing of the past. You need to look in to how you want to deliver juice to the atomizer, for that there are several methods. Direct dripping- dropping juice out of the bottle directly in to the atomizer, bottom fed mod- juice goes up from the atty connector, top fed- a tube goes in to your drip tip to feed atty, carto tanks, E2 tanks like the map, drip on demand from clouds of vapor, the vape mate from super t, ego- t tank atties... And probably more I can't think of. Oh also the 510 also had cartomizers. You have to search these things and find out which is right for you. Oh and I reccomend 2.5 ohm for 5v. Or 3.0 ohm

Oh and the dual coil... I would recommend starting with something simple and work your way up. Also the 306 atty uses the 510 connection, and with a 510 to 901 adapter I think you can use your 808 cartos. Happy hunting, if you have any further questions just pm me, this is the modding forum and may not be the right place for this.:)

I will typically use hot glue for prototype work but when the design is solid I will build the final mod using epoxy. I have found that hot glue will not seal perfectly and contribute to leaks where epoxy will make a great seal. Also using hot glue in "high stress" areas will work its self loose over time where epoxy will hold solid for a long time. Just my two cents.

I used hot glue on the board and wires like in the pictures and JB Welded the 510 connector into the box.
If by chance something goes wrong other than the 510 connector i could take out the wires and board and replace with the board kit for 7.99.
