Well in my endeavors I am trying different attempts at a better longer lasting heating element. I have settled on a 1mm ID Pyrex tubing and thermeez ceramic paste. I used 34ga nichrome wire wrapped around 32ga wire to make the coil @ 2.4ohms. I then slide it into the Pyrex tube and soldered enamel wire to the ends. I pushed/squeezed the thermeez paste into the ends of the tube and the wrapped the tube with the mesh found in all attys. The result was vapor in 1.5 seconds of power. Attached are various pics in the building stages. I am going to insert this into an atty and see how long and well it will work. Comments suggestions always welcomed.

very interesting! its good to see people experimenting!!! this is how things get better!!!

i think the next step in atty development is to experiment with some more expensive metals that are good conductors and will last longer.,....i think the best atty...is one that smokes wonderfully and you NEVER have to buy a new one...within reason :)

1.) Will this fit in your Pill Fob?

2.) Interesting choice on the larger 34ga you chose as you needed a longer length to get 2.4 ohms and risk the individual loops touching.

3.) Combing this with the IC Pins would truly make for a Plug and Play atty mod.

All said and done, I like where you are going with this and looks very promising

Away..
Dan,
Looking good. You might want to post the source of the pyrex tubing. Seems some have been looking and had a hard time finding it.
The 1.5 sec to vape isn't surprising. Thats the dead thermal mass factor I was referring to.
thats not a bad time though. On a mod battery it would make no diff at all. On a small penstyle, some will notice a quicker time needed to swap batteries. The trade off is if the coil holds up, its well worth it.

What if you put a thin long tailed wick on it,under the mesh wrap, to go into the filler? That would recharge the mesh much faster. The IC plugs I've been using would be ideal on this for a quick change feature and a couple spares are easy to keep with you in a small plastic bag in a PCC hole.

Nice work.:thumb:

That looks familiar Dan..I thought that wiz stick process died. Is that Thermeez porous when dried? Just wondering if not how it wouldnt pop the tube from being pressurized. I still think that is the way to go...no silica..if we can just get it right. In the experiments I have done with the tubing from you it has never shattered even when dripping juice directly on it when hot...so thats a plus!

Yes the reason I chose the 34ga, smaller wraps and longer length. My Pill fob Hybrib is what this will go into (pic attached), I have added some more metal mesh to the heating coil so it looks like the pic below. This will be inserted into the base of my Pill Fob and I will allow the S's of the metal mesh to touch the batting, hopfully they do not get to hot as to melt the batting.

Hey good idea, the wicking material will take the heat and can always be changed when it gets, ummm cruddy :) Will try a loop method out from the mesh to touch the batting. Thanks
I need to get some of those IC connectors :)

I have been using the Hybrid Pil Fob pictured above, the thermeez is shown under the heating coil and holds the screw points in place. It has not shown any signs of absorbing the liquid. Stuff is rock hard when cured.

Away..
Looking good Dan.
I'd expect some residual heat. Get one of those 300g ball switches from MadVapes in the bottom section and you wont have to connect and disconnect. I think that would look sharp with a chrome/silver BB size 1/3 ball on the side. They have a nice audible click too. The 100g are a lighter duty. Cant say the ratings are for the current we use, but I've only lost 2 switches in 9 months.

Yea, the liquid will eventually turn it black and carbon it up. As open as it is you can pick alot away with a needle. But, its a fast swap setup so I don't really see a problem. All will eventually fail, its just how much trouble & expense is it to put a new one on and that method isn't hard or expensive at all.

Nice work..........

Dan, you never cease to amaze me - with your skill AND your penchant for sharing.
Mahalos! And good luck!

ps: 5 min constant power???!!!

LOL yes 5 min, since I have no switch (yet, on order) I left it plugged in for 5 min, constantly vaping :) Since it is in the pyrex tube, it seems to operate with no problems since no ejucie can touch the coil.
