Has anyone tried hickory smoke flavoring in a DIY? I've been seeing this flavoring at Wizard Labs and its always out of stock. Seems like it might be a good way to simulate smoke, but may be completely disgusting. I was going to try and locate something like this elsewhere but would like to know if anyone else has tried it.

I have it but haven't tried it. It actually doesn't smell half bad. It kinda smells like hickory smoked barbaq sauce so I would imagine it would taste similure. I think it might give an interesting topnote to a tobacco mix. I actually bought it to experiment with giving a tobacco mix a woody slightly spicy kick and I think this will do it. I'll report back after a few experiments. Maybe a pipe type tobacco with a touch of honey and hickory.

I've ordered two things to mimick the 'smokey' taste of hickory or BBQ - Black Fire from FA and Guaiacol from TFA. They both smell extremely similar tbh, even though Black Fire is marketed as a tobacco flavor while Guaiacol is merely a flavor molecule. I added .4% of Black Fire to a tobacco mix recently and it did add a spice note, but I'll probably bump it up to .5 next time around. Haven't experimented with the Gua yet though, as it seems to me that it would be more potent, although that's just an assumption.

hmm Black Fire.. thanks Time ;)

I would guess toothpick drops.. (for the smokey hickory) and wondering if Virginia would be good, too. Maybe some Capt Black?
Would hate to overdo it, but wondering what else could be complimentary without becoming nasty. Can see this as a strong vape..

**rattles my bottles and digs.. help!

I know it's good on pizza with the bacon and pineapple.. however.. I don't want to vape Hawaiian Pie all night ;)

Sorry guys the bottle is still sitting unused on my shelf. I haven't really had time or maybe it’s just that a brilliant thought hasn’t come to me yet as to what to do with it.

What about that hangsen fish or crab (don't quite remember) flavor. May make a great barbeque fish fry:)

OK folks as promised here's something you can use hickory smoke flavor for. After thinking about this a while a brain storm idea came to me and I thought WoW if you use to much AP you'll wind up with corn chip which is usually bad. Then after smelling the hickory smoke I thought why the hell did I buy this it smells awful. So thinking on this further I said to myself "Do 2 wrongs make a right?" well maybe in this case it does. So without further ado here is my recipe for "Frito's Barbeque flavored corn chips"

TFA Graham Cracker 2%
TFA AP 2 - 3%
TFA Hickory Smoke 1%

You need to steep this or it will blow your head off.

1 week natural steep
2.5 - 3 hour UC steep.

Yep kinda tastes like frito's barbeque corn chips.

Have fun

I'm thinking on adding something like a ry4 or some virginia and cowboy to this.. perhaps around 2-4%

but thinking on the hickory, maybe 1-2 toothpick drops instead of a 1%, as I only want the "hint" of smoke..

Yes I would go very light on the HS. I can see this will be on the shelf for quite a while. It's fun to experiment with but as far as a useful flavor I think not.
