On July 1, 2013 the tax on a pack of cigarettes in MN will go up $1.60 for a total tax of $2.83 per pack. I used to smoke American Spirit which were more expensive that other brands. Yes there will be a tax increase on tobacco products (e-juice with Nicotine) but it will be much less. So 13 days ago I switched to an e-cig. It wasn't the first time I tried an e-cig. a couple years ago I bought a "Blu" kit and hated it. My nonsmoking son brought home an e-cig with a fruit drink flavor and I tried it. He convinced me to go to the E-cig Crib with him and I was hooked. I am so glad he did that. I started with a 456 Variable Volt Mini Kit, a vivi nova tank, and a couple tobacco flavors of juice for about $75.00 and that is roughly the cost of my cartons of American Spirits. This thing rocks! I was a 2 pack a day smoker for the last 40+ years.
I have a grandson, Devan, who is 3 years old. His mother tried to get me banned from seeing him because I smoked. The court just ordered me not to smoke in the same room as him. Minnesota is such a anti-smoking state that I almost lost that one. My son fought hard to allow me to be a part of Devan's life. Scared me enough to try to quit. I was unsuccessful until I found my e-cig! My oldenst son told me that I would NEVER have to get him a gift for any occasion if I quit smoking! More Savings (jk)!
