i just bought an eleaf istick 30w today with two aspire nautilus mini tanks today. i have been using a halo triton up until now, and wanted to upgrade because i wanted better flavor and vapor.

i put my e juice into the tanks in front of the guy at the store (goodlife deadly sin and blueberry morning) so i know i didn't mess that up.. i waited 30 minutes before trying it out, took a couple of primer puffs as instructed, and started out on the lowest wattage possible - 3 volts, 6 watts. i've only taken small hits without pulling in much, and so far every hit i have taken has tasted terrrrible. like i can't get the flavor of the juice, and it varies between a slightly burnt taste to an all out really burnt taste. my triton tastes so much better, and i was hoping for sooo much more from this setup!!

what am i doing wrong? i am so so upset that i dropped a good chunk of change on something i thought would improve my vaping experience, and i haven't been able to get it to produce a pleasant drag thus far. i wish i had just stuck with my triton at this point. i'm so sad, haha.

can anyone offer any advice? :(

thank you...

just curious .. are the coils that came with your nautilus the new BVC coils or the older BDC's? There's a huge difference in flavor and also how long they last. That being said you could have just got a bad coil too. I had one 5 pack of coils (BVC) that only 1 out of the 5 were usable. This has been the only time I've had any issues with the BVC coils and they usually produce great flavor if primed first.

hey there! they are the bvc coils. it's weird... it seems like i'll get an ok hit or two once in a while, but for the most part it ends up tasting burnt or just bad.

Maybe a silly question but is your air flow control open? If it is is it on the widest selection?

hi! yes, it is open, and i've tried experimenting a bit with which widths i have it set on... what would you recommend for the least chance of burning out the coil?

Sounds like the coil is not primed and so the juice isn't being evaporated like it should be. This could be a bad coil, not enough voltage or priming. I don't have a nautilus so I can't speak directly but on my Atlantis I put juice on the coil before I screw it onto the tank. Then I wait a couple minutes before hitting it.

maybe try some primer puffs; block the airhole and without firing the power, take a draw or two on the tank to suck liquid into the coil.

your istick should be able to tell you what the coil ohms is.

thank you! i'm trying some of these things and having a bit more luck... i think it's a learning process for sure, and i'm at the very beginning. been checking out some youtube videos and stuff too.

thanks so much! i will try that when i change the coil, for sure.

When I change coils I always put 2 or 3 tiny drops right into the coil to get it "jump started".....that way I don't have to wait too long to vape. I then take primer puffs and begin vaping right on with the largest air hole.
Make sure your tank isn't screwed on too tight, I notice a tight draw even when I'm on the largest air hole if I am screwed on too tight.

And lastly are you getting a relatively good amount of vapor, despite the bad taste?

That sounds crappy... If you can't resolve it I'd take it back and maybe do some looking around at other tanks available now that offer stock coils (if that's what you're going for), like subtank mini or delta. Is your juice high VG? I dunno about the nautilus but a lot of clearos can't wick juices with a high vg content, giving you that nasty burnt hit, good to stick with 50/50 vg/pg to be safe with clearos, IMO.

I've found that most of my Nautilus Mini problems come back to the coils. You have a great battery with the Istick 30, so you should be set there.

I was talking to a shop owner who told me that he thinks nearly half of the BVC coils out there are knockoffs, even with the authenticity scratch off working. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but he seemed quite sure (and he's a bright guy on the purchasing/business front of vaping, one of the few I trust)

But even when I get good ones, some packs will have a dud here and there. I would honestly just throw out that coil and try a different one in the pack, to see if it's better. If not, I would buy a pack from a very reputable vendor to compare. I've found that Sun Vapers has been pretty consistent, and they are pretty big about ensuring that their products are authentic, and reasonable priced: Aspire Nautilus BVC Single Coil (Replacement heads) | Sun-Vapers.com

I've also heard people mention good success with 101vapes: http://101vape.com/clearomizers-glassomizers/376-genuine-aspire-bvc-replacement-coils-5-pack.html

Sweet-vapes and others have good coils too. It's worth searching in the advanced search to read up on where people are getting them with good success.

Also, what Nibs said up top. Just be sure that you're putting a 2-3 drops of your liquid into the top of the new coil before using it. Even after letting it soak, this will ensure that you don't have it burned when you start. This tip has made a big difference since I started doing it months ago. I think this is a huge thing that every person should do.

I wish you the best- look to the coils!

thank you all so much for the suggestions!! i think my problem is fixed, and it was definitely due to user inexperience, not the product. i replaced the coils, dripped some of the juice onto the coil itself, and let the tanks sit for a good long time before giving them some primer puffs, and i'm getting pretty great flavor and vapor. yay! so relieved.

I had similar issues with my first experience using the BVC coils...I found that when I change a coil, to leave it for 24 hours to allow maximum saturation of e liquid. Glad you got it resolved, and I am glad I stuck with them too! I now have 12 tanks filled with different juices that I can alternate and I get a superb vaping experience from everyone of them!
