Hello and welcome back for another review. Today I will be taking a look at the Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 rta J Edition that was sent to me by Hellvape in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. This is the latest iteration of the Dead Rabbit 3 RTA. It is a dual coil rta with a liquid capacity of 3.5ml with the straight glass and 5.5ml with the included bubble glass. It has a mirror polished finish. It also comes with a hygienic Ag+ drip tip. This J (Joker) edition is inspired much like the rda J Edition that I recently reviewed by the Joker and player card designs are found throughout the entire design. I was surprised that there was not a Dead Rabbit icon on the tank.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging is much like I’ve seen before from Hellvape and have become accustomed to seeing. The box is the usual orange and black color with the Hellvape logo near the top, the tank name on one side and a nice color picture on the front. The back side has a list of the features, a contents list, and company information. I received the Shiny SS Blue and the Shiny Gunmetal Purple versions for this review. Both tanks are really beautiful looking.

Once the box is opened, the rta is found sitting in a foam insert with the included 5.5ml bubble glass sitting below the tank. The 3.5ml straight glass is pre-installed. Underneath the foam insert is where the accessories are located. Included with the tank are two .37 ohm Ni80 coils, two cotton threads, a screwdriver for the slotted grub screws, an allen wrench for the spare grub screws, spare o rings, coil cutting guide, and user manual. I really like how Hellvape includes everything needed to get the tank ready for used besides eliquid.

You might be tired of hearing this by now but I always like to remind people to disassemble and clean any tank before use to remove any machining oil or debris that might have been left behind during manufacture. Not cleaning a tank can ruin the first impression by the flavor being off. Trust me, I’ve had that happen before.

The top cap and deck have matching indentations to allow the user to grip and turn them more easily. The included drip tip is Ag+ and enhanced with ant-bacterial silver ions. The metal base of the tip has the Hellvape name etched on the base. The airflow ring has a set of 16 honeycomb holes on two sides for a total of 32 airflow holes. The joker face is on the chamber but there is not a dead rabbit icon on this one. These tanks have a highly polished surface to add to the appearance and really grab your attention.

Much like the joker edition rda, the base on this tank carries through with the playing card theme with a ring of playing card symbols on the bottom of the base. Also on the base is the Hellvape name and a small joker face.

The top cap has an outer o ring and a smaller o ring to seal the top of the tank from leaking. There are two large kidney shaped fill holes and in the center you can see two small tabs sticking out that are what locks the top cap in place with a ¼ turn.

The inside of the chamber where the deck is inserted is reduced to improve flavor production. The four grub screws installed have slotted heads and there is a screwdriver included for use with these. There are also allen head screws included as spares and an allen wrench if you would like to use those instead. There are three oval and four round holes underneath where the dual coils sit to allow airflow from underneath. There are also four oval and four round holes on each side of the deck to allow airflow from the sides while it’s also hitting the coils from underneath. You can see in the third picture below that the plated 510 pin protrudes slightly from the 510 connection.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

I decided to do things a little differently on this one and show you the build on the Dead Rabbit 3 RTA J Edition. I really like how Hellvape includes the coil cutting guide with an arrow marked at the suggested cutting length. I started out by cutting the coils at the 5mm mark on the cutting guide and inserted them into the deck. This was followed by a dry burn to make sure the coils were heating correctly and to burn off any debris. I was able to use one of the two included cotton threads to wick both coils. Due to the amount of cotton from two wicks and the amount of space allowed for inserting the wicks into the juice wells, I gave them a good comb out and cut the edges of the combined wicks at a 30 degree angle to reduce the amount being inserted into the wells. This worked out well for me. I had good wicking action and was able to comfortably take multiple puffs with my mod set at 58 watts. I personally don’t like a hot vapor so this setting worked well for me. The flavor was pretty good using a lemon pound cake mix that I’ve used for a long time. Was it out of this world flavor? No but it was pretty good. I’d probably give it an 8 out of 10 rating.

It has been a real pleasure testing the Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 RTA J Edition. I feel like Hellvape puts out very good tanks at a reasonable price and have been very happy testing their tanks for some time now. It’s really great how everything is included that you need to get the tank ready for use. The polished finish really adds to the aesthetics and the Ag+ tip is a nice added feature. I was a little surprised that the dead rabbit icon wasn’t on the chamber. I’d like to thank Hellvape and Carrie for sending the two samples for my review. I truly appreciate it. Thanks also to the readers for taking the time to check out another one of my reviews. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.
