    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome back. Today I will be taking a look at the Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 rta 2024 Edition that was sent to me by Hellvape in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The 2024 comes with a straight glass and a bubble glass to provide either a 3.5ml capacity or a 5.5ml capacity. It has a new updated logo on the chamber and base and makes use of honeycomb airflow. Hellvape has also figured out how to plate the glass so that there is a tint to the straight glass. It is in fact designed to be used as a dual coil rta. It also has top to bottom airflow to avoid leaking and comes with a lot of accessories as I’ve become used to having reviewed many Hellvape tanks in the past.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the 2024 Edition is much like other Hellvape tanks that I’ve reviewed in the past. It is the orange and black outer shell that I’ve seen many times. The front has the Hellvape name and logo as well as the Dead Rabbit 3 name as well as the 2024 Edition near the bottom right. There is a sticker on the front that indicates the color of the tank inside since the same image is used for all colors but the sticker lets you know what the actual color is inside. The back side of the shell has a list of features, a contents list, and company information.

Once the outer shell is removed and the top of the two part box is removed then the 2024 can be seen with a nice color drip tip installed and there is a spare black drip tip as well as a bubble glass that takes the liquid capacity from 3.5ml with the straight glass to 5.5ml with the bubble glass. Underneath the insert, you will find two .37 ohm coils, two cotton threads, coil cutting guide, accessory pack, and user manual.

As I normally recommend, it’s always a good idea to give a new tank a good cleaning in before use. The DR3 2024 is easily disassembled for cleaning. I noticed upon re-assembly that the airflow control ring will only go on one way. The Hellvape name is etched on it which makes it easy to see which way it goes onto the tank. It’s a little hard to capture with a camera but there is a coloring tint to the straight glass. Hellvape has developed a way to plate the glass so the there is a tinting effect to it. From what I understand there are different color tints available. I didn’t notice any tinting on the bubble glass. The top cap for the 2024 is a quarter turn removable cap that is sealed with an outer o ring.

One of the new features of the 2024 Edition is the new logo on the chamber. The 2024 is engraved on the chamber. The opposite side of the chamber has the normal dead rabbit symbol. The airflow control on this one is another new feature. Hellvape went with two sets of 16 honeycomb holes for airflow inlet. The combined 32 holes provide smooth and quiet airflow for the top to bottom airflow design. The top airflow control also eliminates chances of leakage.

The inside of the chamber is reduced to match the shape of the build deck and has an opening on either side to allow liquid flow to the deck. Underneath the fill cap there are two large fill hole openings that allow pretty much any type of bottle to be used for filling. Besides the outer o ring making a seal on the top cap, there is also a smaller o ring on the center of the top cap to prevent flooding.

The build deck for the 2024 Edition is postless but has eight holes on the raised ends of the deck to direct airflow to the sides of the coils. There are also another seven holes underneath where the coils mount so that airflow is directed under the coils and from the sides at the same time. The wick holes on each side are a good size and don’t require too much thinning of the wick legs in order to have room to insert the wicks for both coils into each end. The four grub screws are slotted and there is a screwdriver included for them. I personally would have preferred allen head screws as my eyes aren’t the best and the slots on the tiny screws are a little hard for me to see when tightening the coils in place.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

Hellvape has managed to come out with yet another well performing tank in the Dead Rabbit line of devices. The addition of the honeycomb airflow is a welcome addition. I found the airflow to be smooth and quiet while delivering very good flavor and vapor production. From RDL to DTL, these are a well performing tank.

I used the two included .37 ohm coils and trimmed them to the recommended length of 5mm. The coil cutting guide included works well and there is an indicator arrow on the side at the 5mm location. Once installed and dry burning the coils, I was able to use just one of the cotton threads to wick both coils which leaves the second thread included for a second build. I thinned the wick ends slightly and easily installed them in the wick holes. I probably could have thinned them less since I noticed that I would get a pop and spitback after leaving the tank sitting unused overnight. One firing of the tank would clear the extra liquid that accumulated overnight.
