Hello and welcome back for yet another review. Today I’m here to cover the new Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 rda J Edition that was sent to me by Hellvape in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The J Edition is a new collector’s edition in the Dead Rabbit 3 line of rdas. The J is a 24mm diameter dual coil rda that is mirror polished and comes with a very nice Ag+ drip tip as well as a spare PCTG drip tip. It has the same build deck as the original Dead Rabbit 3 rda. It also has both slotted and honeycomb airflow available. I am a fan of the original DR3 RDA so am confident that this new collector’s edition will perform well.

SPECIFICATIONS:
INITIAL THOUGHTS:
The packaging for the DR3 J Edition is what I’ve come to expect from Hellvape. They are pretty consistent on their packaging. The front of the box for the J is orange in color with the Hellvape name and logo, the name and color picture of the rda, a picture of the Joker, and Limited Edition in the upper right corner. The back of the box has some features listed, contents list, and Hellvape company information.
Once opened, the J Edition RDA is visible with the Ag+ tip installed and the spare 810 drip tip sitting to the side in the foam insert. Underneath that foam is where you find the allen wrenches, screwdriver, two cotton threads, two .37 ohm Ni80 coils, spare o rings and grub screws, and included squonk pin. The solid pin is pre-installed in the rda. I received the shiny purple and shiny stainless steel versions for my review.
As is the case with any new tank or rda, it’s a good idea to clean these with some warm and soapy water followed by a good rinse to eliminate any leftover machining oil or debris that might remain from the manufacturing process. As you can see in the picture below, there are symbols around the base of the drip tip indicating the different suits of playing cards which ties back to the Joker name. The top cap has a single o ring on it and there are both slotted and honeycomb airflow holes available for your preference. There are indentations around the top of the cap to make it a little easier for turning to adjust the airflow. In the second picture below you can see that the joker face is on one side of the rda with the Dead Rabbit symbol on the opposite side.
The build deck is the classic Dead Rabbit 3 design that we’ve seen before and love. It’s nice how the coil legs can be trimmed after installing the coils. The deck comes with four flat head grub screws installed and as you would think, there’s plenty of room for building with ease. The build deck has indentations one on each side that allows the outer chamber to lock down in place while the inner chamber rotates to expose either slotted or honeycomb holes. The base of the deck has two good sized o rings to hold the outer chamber in place and also preventing any leaking. In the second picture below you can see the bottom side of the deck that has writing on the outside edge and a second ring with the playing card suits once again tying into the Joker theme. The inner circle has the Hellvape name and the Joker face.
The J Edition doesn’t come with a coil cutting guide like many of the Hellvape tanks do but after thinking about it, it made sense since the coils are easily trimmed after installation on this style of build deck. I did however grab one of my many coil cutting guides and pre-cut my coil legs to 5mm. In my mind that was my way of more easily installing the two coils so that they came out close to the same height. Another way would be to just install the coils and holding the chamber up to it so the coils are centered on the air inlet holes. A nice final tie in to the Joker theme is that the four playing card suits are also on the inside of the deck in each of the four corners as you can see in the deck picture below.
After a good dry burn, the coils can be wicked. I was able to use one of the cotton threads to wick both coils which leaves a second included thread for replacement wicking. I did a very slight comb out of the wick tails but it’s really not necessary as there is plenty of room in the deck for wicks. I fully saturated the wicks and coil before remembering that I wanted to switch out the plated 510 center pin and install the squonk pin since I had already set up a squonk mod to test the rdas. Therefore my hands got a little messy but not too bad. The squonk pin was easily installed with the included allen wrench.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I’m honestly not surprised at all that I enjoyed testing the new Hellvape Dead Rabbit 3 RDA J Edition as it makes use of the same build deck as previous versions of the Dead Rabbit 3. From the nice Ag+ drip tip to the mirror finish of the outer chamber this one is a real looker. I really love not only the Dead Rabbit symbol on the outer chamber but the Joker face on the opposite side is simply fantastic. Having the option of slotted or honeycomb airflow is a plus for sure. I personally prefer the honeycomb style of airflow. I very much like also how Hellvape used their attention to detail to tie in the Joker theme by incorporating the playing card suits throughout the entire design of the rda. On top of all of that, the flavor production is simply fantastic in my opinion.
