Hello! My name is Sandy. I've been vaping on and off for a while. I use an eleaf istick 50w with the eleaf gs air 2 tank. I really do love that tank. I am looking into RDA's but feel intimidated. Is it easy to wrap the coils and all that good stuff? I'm kind of tired of buying coils every pay check. I would love to decrease the cost of coil heads. I also have a question. Are there any RDA's where you can mouth to lung? I am an MTL person and hate lung hits. Do you happen to know if you can MTL the igo-L RDA?

Hello @mangosandy82 and welcome to the forum. Wrapping coils is very easy on most gear.

I would suggest looking at the Kanger Subtank Mini (version 2 has the better air flow and wick holes in the rba) as a good tank for mouth to lung vape. I Use the rba and make my own coils, it is easy to work on. I also swapped out the wide bore drip tip with a standard 510 sized one with a more narrow opening. Cutting back on the airflow a bit and it works great for mouth to lung at .5 ohm.

Good luck in your journey.

Hi Sandy - I'm new here too but have been vaping for a few years. Feel like I've been in your shoes a while back.

An RDA that you might consider is the prometey, the original is high dollar but decent clones can be found much cheaper. Its unique for an rda in the sense that it is pretty much leak proof, e.g. no problem holding it in any position for extended periods, as long as you don't add too much juice or keep your wick mashed up against the air inlet chimney. Has adjustable airflow and delivers great taste.

Wrapping your own coils and threading your own cotton wicks isn't too hard but will require a little patience to figure out what works best for ya and then being able to repeat it consistently.

Hi Sandy, welcome to the ECF forums! VERY glad that you found us here!

If you are SURE you want to drip (it can be inconvenient when driving, or out and about) and aren't yet ready to try building your own coils, my Mrs. and I still use the old skool 510 drip atomizers. They only hold a few drops, so if you change flavors often, that is a plus.

They can last anywhere from a week, to a couple MONTHS, if cleaned occasionally, and they are DIRT cheap. PERFECT for MTL hits too. Most perfect MTL I have EVER known. When they quit, or just get tired, you just toss them. MANY of us who started years ago, still use them.

Try one, you might like em. Under $1 each right here.
Joye 510 or Joye eGo electronic cigarette replacement atomizers

Welcome!
It takes a bit of reading, there are a ton of great YouTube Videos on building coils and wicking. Take is slow, don't get frustrated if it isn't working well to start with, it does take a little time to get techniques down. Once you get the hang of it, it's really quite easy, and the rewards are incredible flavor and more control over your experience at a lower cost.

Same here for the Subtank Mini V2.
Simple and easy to buld on the RBA deck. I vape 1.1 ohm 28 ga coil on mine at 13-14 watts. Here is the data for winding the coil.

Hi and welcome. There is a learning curve to building coils, but it isn't hard. If you can sew on a button, you can build coils; that's the level of manual dexterity and close vision needed. (I couldn't build coils-- or sew on a button-- without a lighted magnifier...) That said, there are serious safety considerations involved with it, so let's talk some before you have a try at it. Probably the best RTAs for MTL vapers are the Kayfuns, of which there are a number of models. But any RTA, just about, can be used as a MTL tank by closing down the airflow and, if necessary, substituting a smaller than stock drip tip. The Lemo2 is worth a look in that regard, but it will definitely need a smaller drip tip :) Drippers can also be built/used for MTL, or some of them can. You would want one with adjustable air flow, though, and you will need to shut the air down again, just like a tank; this would eliminate, for example, the Patriot and similar styles.

Someone here could certainly help you to extend the life of the coils you're using now to make it more cost-effective.

We'll need a little info for that, like the name of the tank, Ohms of the coils, amount and mix of the eliquid that you prefer.

Many here get at least a week out of their coils and know where to get them cheap.

More and more tanks are coming out with both replaceable and rebuildable coil heads.
The kanger subtank and the smok tfv4 are popular examples

Are there any rda's that are cheap?

rda's are very simple and tough devices. you can find rda's at low cost.
the 3d rda clone I am using right now I have seen as low at $3 sale price at fasttech; I probably paid $5 for mine.
There are a lot at the 10 to 20$ range.
