Hi guys and gals, new to the forum here, been lurking as a guest for a lil while. Been listening to Vapor Cast for a couple weeks(great podcast), watching youtube videos from Grimm Green, Vapor S Thompson / NicFitNation, Big Ice Dog, Dr. Vapor, The Geek Group ( Chris Boden) and a few others. Love the videos guys, keep it up! So, like many others here, I "was" a smoker for about 10 years, pack and a half of marb. light[gold pack] 100's [in the box] a day. I was sick of the smell, everything having to be cleaned. Clean clothes smelling like smoke, the health issues and long term implications I was facing, and of course the social stigma associated with smoking these days. Yadda yadda, I'm probably preaching to the choir here, anyway. So after finally deciding that this whole vaping thing was legit, I decided to order up a couple PV's and some accessories to go along with them.
Ok, so then the whole "which one do I want" thing happens, so I did some research and decided to give a few PV's a go, because at close to $60.00/week(for me) smoking is pretty damn expensive these days! I ordered a Volcano from Volcano ecigs ( Standard Kit ), then did some more digging and checking on what was good for the new vaper. Seems most would suggest something like a 510 kit, an ego kit, or perhaps some clone of those kit(s) which is what I distilled from many "what to get" threads. So, I ordered an Ego kit too. I got the impression that the Volcano products were more "customized" or perhaps "refined" versions of some of the other kits on the market.
So, a break down on what I got.
Volcano kit (from volcanoecigs.com):
1 battery
1 atomizer
25 carts (med. various flavors)
charger
PCC (V-Pack)
Price: around 70 bucks w/ shipping.
---------------
Ego kit w/ goodies. ( from ecigsupply.com ):
Ego Kit ( comes with 2 batts, two button protectors, two 'cones', and two attys, plus charger and 5 carts )
Price: ~$55.00
Goodies:
USB Passthru battery. -- This thing is awesome! GET ONE!
10ml Watermelon juice 1.8%(18 mg) (VG base w/ PGA ):
Quick review: Great juice, love, love it. No seeds or mess, but all the flavor, plus a throat hit!
10ml Dry Tobac 1.8%(18 mg) (VG base w/ PGA ):
Quick review: To me, it's like vaping Honey Nut Cheerios, and while I like to eat those, im not super psyched about vaping them, YMMV. This is a good juice, but I don't think it's for me.
Ok, so I have to say I like both products. The volcano kit comes in a gift box that looks awesome, everything is well presented, however, I think for the money, you can get a better PV kit. I feel for the price, you should get an extra atty and battery. They do sell a more expensive kit that includes these, but I ordered a standard kit. The PCC/V-Pack is a nice thing though, so that does temper that a bit. If your going out for a 'smoke' break at work and your battery is dead your kinda screwed unless you had it charged up already from the PCC, because you don't have time to charge it before your break is over. The carts have a foil on the juice side of them, I think this should be removed in favor of the "condom" style covers. It's just easier to yank off the lil condom rather than to dig around to find something to pull the foil off. Another pro of the volcano product, it feels more like a real analog in your hand, fit and finish are very nice. The vapor production on the volcano is decent, but not awesome. The volcano battery is automatic, so you need to take a toot on it to make it kick on. Shipping was fine, and they offer fedex! Why don't more suppliers offer fedex or even UPS? I realize it's more expensive, but it's faster, and as a consumer, I want the stuff ASAP, I say pass the costs along to the consumer and make it an option! Perhaps getting set up with fedex or ups is a pain in the ... for the suppliers.
Ok the The Ego, as I said, I ordered it from ecigsupply. First, Chad Green is awesome. Shipping/Order Processing was SUPER FAST!!! Plus customer service was great and the prices are very good.
The Ego kit comes with two batts, charger, two attys, two cones, two button holders, 5 carts, a little bag, and it comes in a nice gift box. For the price, I feel it's a great value. Plus, this thing is pretty serious, vapor production is outstanding, clouds of vapor. It's about as tall as a Pilot G2 pen, and a bit thicker. That said, you won't have any illusion that your are smoking an analog, hand feel wise. The ego battery alone makes this the pick for me, and the one I will recommend to anyone who asks me which kit they should buy. This battery will probably last you all day. These are manual batteries, push button receive vapor. Uses the 510 attys, easy to find almost anywhere it seems. You can also use the LR attys if you want.
So all you potential vapers out there, order a PV (I'd go w/ the ego ), get some juice(try the watermelon from ECS). If your like me, and chained to a computer, order a USB pass-thru for your PV. Vape and enjoy smelling nice and not wanting to stab people because your jonesing for a smoke
, while at the same time getting away from all the junk in analogs. To sorta quote will smith from men in black II here, analogs are old and busted, vaping is the new hotness. I want to thank everyone for putting the word out on vaping, and I want to thank the suppliers for making it easy to order these products, you all rock, thank you.
