Anyone else getting headaches from esmoking?

I can say with a large measure of confidence that my headaches are not from:

overdosing
withdrawal symptoms
other illness

I think its from the PG fluid I'm smoking.

I get pounding headaches in the front of my head when I'm on the ecigs. Typically worse in the mornings for some reason.

I read that some people can have reaction to PG that causes veins to swell, which seems like it could cause a headache.

New to vaping. Used a kit with prefilled cartomizers and had to stop on day 3 due to headaches. Pretty sure I am reacting to the PG in them. Have had a bad reaction to it in the past when it is used as a carrier for medications injected during medical and dental procedures. I can give up the smoke but not ready to let go of the nicotine and I find the patch, gum, lozenges difficult because I can't control the dose; overwhelms my system. As strange as it may sound, I am into organic everything and my analogs are organic tobacco. Pretty sure the PG won't work for me. I ordered a different kit where I can use PG free eliquid, will be here tomorrow but does any one know where I could get cartomizers prefilled with PG free liquid? Also, can you tell me if the eliquid bases are made from tobacco or if it is some kind of synthetic stuff. I've always suspected that the nic in the patches, gum, etc. is synthetic.

I get um too. Started off with 36mg, still happened with 24mg, I'm using first batch of 18mg. Think I'll try going down to 6mg and work up if I need to. Just like when I first started smoking tobacco cigs and got headaches. Should have listened to my body telling me it didn't like it. The whole point of these eCigs as far as I'm concerned is to work your way outta any nicotine at all. Then work my way outta the whole deal. Would love to say I used to smoke tobacco cigs, and I used to vap eCigs. JMHO

Cheers,

Most of it isn't synthetic as its HIGHLY expensive to make, and very cheap to extract from tobacco - you can use VG liquid if youre truely sensitive to PG (sounds like you are if it affected you in medicines); there's a list around of vendors who do all VG liquids, which of course I can't find for you right now lol
I know cignot.com have a whole bunch of VG only liquids but there are quite a few others too.

I had the headaches too, but just at the beginning..I think it's mostly OD talking..we all vape a LOT more than we smoked, probably because it TASTES so much better and we CAN vape where we couldn't smoke. :)

If you STILL think you have a problem with PG in a few weeks, AFTER you lay off the PV for a little while, (I find the 'you have a reaction to the PG!!!' sentiment runs a tad high in here sometimes..), and you choose to go to VG, give wordupecigs a spin, they do a lot of VG only liquids that taste GREAT and they use all natural flavorings!!

Hope this helps and you're feeling better!! :)

To the OP, where are you getting your cartomizers and/or liquid? Every liquid I ordered from bestecig made both my husband and I get HORRIBLE headaches even when diluted 50% with glycerine...AND it was a medium nicotine to start with. We always vape around 10mg... I don't know what it was with those liquids...but we have a bunch in the fridge unopened and unused because it made us both ill...headaches in the front...lasted for hours on end...put us in a fog, was horrible! As for nicotine OD, I usually get very dizzy and then feel like my stomach is turning (I accidently bought some cartos without choosing a strength, and they sent 36! 3 times what I vape! My fault, but DAYUM! Took a day or two to get the extra nic vaped out! LOL). I would try the VG though, sounds like you shouldn't be touching PG...allergies can be just a small reaction to start then one day you can just die because of an allergen, nothing to mess with!

Hello Michael,

I am only 4 weeks into E-Cigs (and this is my first post!). In the first week I experienced exactly the same symptoms as you. I switched from PG to 100% VG and Organic mixes from Vaperite, and everything cleared up. It appears I am allergic to PG.

Once I fixed that problem I am got more adventurous and have ordered VG from Vaperbomb and Velvet Vapors, as well as Vaperite. I haven't looked back since then :)

I will probably try most of the other e-liquid suppliers recommended here on ECF, but I will stick with 100% VG.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all for the informative and timely responses! So, in the meantime, I have been reading and seeing where maybe the cartomizer material can actually burn and that is of concern to me. I could read through a years worth of posts about it I suppose but it would be really convenient if someone could respond as to if there is still an issue out there with some caromizer's burning and if you have experience with one or more that you like. I found some VG cartomizers at Vapor4life.com and might just go ahead and order their hardware as well. Like I said before, I have a 510 with VG eliquid coming tomorrow but the 2 peice cartomizer sounds convenient and I'd like to try one of high quality. From what I've been reading, the kit I originally bought at the tabacco store was perhaps not a great choice. Did that before seeing this forum. Thanks.

I'm not a chemist, scientist, nor doctor, but here's my take and observation on it.....

It took me a few runs, but after about the 3rd or 4th time, I figured out that my Vapes tasted "funny" cuz the filler was dry and burning on the atty.

The filler itself has yet to show any physical damage, just that when I'd pull the cart from the atty, the filler was on the atty instead of in the cart. (note* I've used 2 of my 5 prefilled carts and then started refilling and playing with straw mods, etc. I've "singed" my filler more than a couple times over the past week or so).

Anyway....

We (most of us anyway) have been smokers sucking in tons of carcinogens for however many years already....and we loved it! It tasted good, right?

So, my take is, if it starts to taste funky, check it out. We've all inhaled enough crap (toxins, etc) that a little more crap while we figure this all out ain't a big deal. Be careful, but not paranoid. If it tastes bad, stop and check, if you feel bad, stop and tell a doctor. Other than that, I think we're pretty much all OK.
