Hi all. I've just received 3 x 10ml bottles @ 24mg each from eliquidworld. Hangsen 'Instrument' (aka 'Drummer'), Hangsen Virginia and Hangsen Old Hoby (supposed to be Old Holborn). They're all intended as rolling tobacco flavours. They're nicer than my Dekang juices, with less chemical aftertaste, but they taste of maple syrup to me which doesn't really appeal. I've only tried the Instrument and Virginia so far, but I don't expect much different from Old Hoby. They taste exactly the same, but the virginia flavour is simply a weaker version of Instrument. I love eating real maple syrup, but not for vaping. Has anyone else vaped these and do you agree with the maple syrup flavour? Or maybe you'd describe it as a dark caramel, I don't know. Anyway, to me, it's not really rolling tobacco flavour. It's been two weeks since I stopped smoking, and I used to smoke Cutter's Choice. I have smoked Drum tobacco in the past, and I certainly don't recall a caramel/maple syrup flavour.

Underneath that flavour, the general lingering tobacco flavour seems much the same as the Dekangs. Maybe all tobacco flavours from all brands taste the same and I'll find nothing better, or is it something unique to chinese liquids? I watched a youtube review where one person raved about Old Holborn from Ok Smokey website saying it was identical to the real thing. Does anyone know if OK Smokey actually have more authentic tobacco flavours? Maybe it's worth trying their Golden Virginia? I'm just worried it might taste of caramel again. Their 10ml bottles are £5 a pop, so not the cheapest.

Thanks for the replies guys. Haven't tried Tuscan Gardens. Yeah, I think you're probably right Feeder, it might be a lost cause trying to find authentic tasting tobacco.
I read somewhere the other day where someone described the smell of real tobacco as herbal. I just took a sniff of my Cutters Choice tobacco (stored away since two weeks ago and no intention to ever consume it again) and I think that's true, that it can be described as herbal. Certainly a million miles away from these maple syrup concoctions.

Bad luck. Rule no.1 of buying tobacco liquids is the names of them are completely unrelated to the taste. The trick is finding one you like.
I hand rolled for 2 decades and wasted a lot of time and money buying eliquids thinking there was something out there similar to my favourites. Find one you like and vape it...lots...

I like RY6 (Hangsen), but it has maple overtones. Also 3 x dekang tobaccos, Tuscan & Kent (both by Wera Garden) Gold ducat (Inawera) 7 Wolves (Tino D'Milano).
You can buy the Wera/Tino etc. either premixed or for home mixing. (premixed around £3 and homemade for under £1)

Oh, and in relation to OK smokey. I have tried them all....and bought none at all. Some people love them, but they are no closer to tobacco than any others on the market. Nothing tastes like a rollie.

LT Ecigs

I have a thing for "The Moors" eliquid. It hits hard and has a dark tobacco flavour (not rolled, for sure) with some plum or something herbal/fruity. If I had to take 3 bottles to a desert island, I would take The Moors, Triple 5 from Dekang (light and ever so slightly nutty, but not like Totally Wicked American Red) and something from Inawera/Wera Garden.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if I can advise more. :)

Thanks for the info djsvapour :) Where did you buy The Moors juice from? Might be worth a shot.

I hear and respect what you said about Ok Smokey. But watch this review if you have a moment. Unless this guy is discreetly marketing OK Smokey's products, then I don't get why he absolutely raves about their Old Holborn eliquid. He doesn't just say it's close, he says it's absolutely identical.

The Moors is an LT e-liquid. I wouldn't dive in on it though, it's not a plain tobacco. (Once I have lots of it, I could send you a sample if you like)

The chap on youtube... well. He's not on forums. He's unknown to the "community" of vapers. He has his own website promoting certain brands of e-liquid, for which he receives payment when people click. Make of it what you will. He's also a newbie vaper (weeks not months)

I smoked old holborn at times and have tried OK smokey, Grizwald (Old Holby), Paradise Vapes, Vapourworld, etc. They are all different, some good, some bad.

Old Holborn Tobacco | ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK

I'd say try it, you've got little to lose, apart from a bottle or two at £5 and P&P.

Prof Beard (Long time Vaper, on UK Vapers etc, runs Stafford vape meets) was rumored to like OK smokey Old Holborn in double flavour.

Would you like me to ask him if it's still "one of the best". People said it was, but I never thought it was very special.

As has already been said, you will not be able to imitate the tobacco taste accurately.

I tried when I first started vaping. I first started on menthol although I did not smoke menthol but I found it too sweet for all day, so bough some USA mix and found this to taste like a dog end soaked in water, after reading a tip I found on these forums, I added about 10% menthol to the tobacco and this done the trick for me! it took away the harsh taste without being too sweet. Keep experimenting, the right flavour will be out there.

Hey, yeah, that would be great to try a sample of the Moors if and when you get some, thanks for the offer!

Yes please, I'd be interested in this Professor Beard's opinion on OK Smokey tobacco flavours. It's not that I want Old Holborn, I never used to smoke it as I think it was even stronger than Golden Virginia. But if he says it's authentic, then maybe their other tobaccos are authentic and perhaps he could recommend something they have which is close to Cutters Choice. I'd say Cutters Choice is a milder version of Golden Virginia. In other words, when I smoked GV, it made me cough where Cutter's Choice didn't. But I'd be willing to try OK Smokey's GV if it's authentic.

Yes, I've been considering mixing but am a bit confused on the process. I've seen DIY videos with all these ingredients of VG liquid, pure nicotine liquid, flavours, etc. Can I just take two of my juices, say a Dekang bottle of 18 or 24mg liquid and mix it directly with another Dekang or a Hangsen juice?

Yes, that is what I do, get yourself one of those needle bottles or similar and just add the required amount, I don't mix my own I use premixed juices off the shelf.
