Picked this up used. Hana dna 40 V3 clone. Was aware that something was wrong with it as long, it powers up but only says check atomizer. I wanted something like this to either fix and sell or swap chip with an evolv dna40. If I wanted to simply fix this for a quick flip (paid 30$) where would I start? I've never built my own mod but this is my starting point. Thanks.

It's almost certainly a grounding issue. Either your 510 oring is burnt/damaged as PRG4 suggested, or there is an issue with one of the other grounds in the box.

Looking at your picture, the usual grounding problem isn't an issue since they grounded to the 510 instead of screwing it to the body of the case. It looks more like someone replaced the 510, and did some sloppy soldering on the 510 shorting the ground to the positive pin.

If you have a spare 510 connection lying around, before you pull anything out of the board, cut the red and black wires from the box's 510, and solder them to the spare. Screw on an atomizer and see if it fires. If it does, you'll just need to replace the 510, or clean off any solder that is shorting your 510.
