I just started DIY and I've been searching for weeks for my favorite flavor: green apple Jolly Rancher.
I've been through 25+ forum threads that end in recipes for a straight green apple, menthol apple, or a complete dead end. I've been through a dozen online recipe books and found nothing.
I didn't want to have to start building a flavor from scratch so early in my DIY experience, but I picked up some TFA flavors that lead me to believe I'm on the right track. TFA Candy Apple smells so close to what I want and tastes like Jolly Ranchers, but after flavoring 60/40, it comes out dull, weak (even for 25%) and not very sour at all. TFA Sour works differently than I would expect. It doesn't get more sour as you add it in, just kind of changes the flavor of everything else. But basically, I have no idea where to go from here. It seems like a mix that's hitting something close to 30% and still not tasting sharp isn't going to work out.
In my experience with pre-mixed liquid, steeping caused flavors to mellow out and was great for things that should taste more natural or mellow, but that's not what I'm going for here.
tl;dr Give me a sour green Jolly Rancher recipe!
