Everything is all about sub-ohm direct lung vaping lately. I still enjoy the cigarette like mouth to lung vaping with the tighter draw and just never got into all the cloud chasing juice drinking hype.

I was using a kayfun mini v3 and seemed to have misplaced it which really hurts. One of these days I'll stumble over it. But until then what's a decent setup these days?

Thanks

I can't help myself... you lost a Kayfun Mini 3? I bet it was stolen, and the thief was whomever said he'd help you look for it. ;)

The Aspire Nautilus 2 is a popular MTL tank, and there are a lot of Nauty users here.

Was eyeing that K5 but was thinking I might wait until the 5s is out. Same design but smaller form factor like the 3.

Kayfun 5 is way airier than K3 (3.2 mm airflow hole vs. 2.2 mm). I've gotten used to it, but it's not an MTL device, exactly. Are you looking for an RTA? SXK (tighter airflow) or SJMY (more open airflow) Doggy Style tank is both easy to use and suitable for MTA vaping. And ridiculously cheap.

Subtank Mini is still a good choice--versatile and dependable. Or try Joyetech eGo one tanks with CLR coils--very good, well made, coils can be rewicked, rebuilt, last forever. Just make sure you get CLR coils (0.5ΩΩ or 1Ω)--CL coils are garbage.

+1 on the STM. Toptank Mini, too. The 1.2 Ohm coils, tightened airflow and a narrow bore drip tip and you're good to go. The STM/TTM are some of the best flavor producers in my arsenal.

I'll be the odd man out. I'm striictly MTL Since there is minimal air passing over the coil one should be enough and low power to run it. I haven't relied on a tank for nearly 2 years. I settled on the SV rda clone on top of a pico. With a tall slip ring covering the air supply it doesn't leak in my pocket as long as it doesn't get upside down..

Never graduated to Toptanks--got distracted by other toys. :D How does it compare to STM?
It's STM performance with top-filling and 0.5ml less capacity. The coils, the airflow system and everything else is the same. The RBA is tiny but that option is there, too. Just such a versatile tank.

Just wonder if my Aspire BVC coils (non-Nautilus) would fit the Toptank. They are brilliant in my STM for nice and tight MTL vaping. :)

Yeah, now I remember that I wasn't sure about that RBA deck. My STM has been flawless (knock on wood) and I don't mind bottom filling at all. I'm so used to it.

By virtue of the name, isn't Subtank Mini meant for subohm'ing which means wide open airflow meant for DTL?

I'm looking for a similar experience to my Kayfun v3 mini. Perhaps I'll be buying another if I can't locate the damn thing. How are the Kabuki's?

The eGO ones appear to be adjustable for airflow. Is that right? Allowing for both types of vaping? Maybe I should go that route and have access to both worlds, subohm DTL and the tighter draw for MTL.

Yes, But, as we have discovered, it's a very versatile tank and it can easily be adapted to even very tight MTL vaping. All depends on what kind of coils you use (or your RBA build). With Aspire BVC coils, for example, you get a wonderful MTL experience.

I don't own a Kabuki, can't help you. K3 has a 2.2 mm diameter airflow hole (under the coil); if that's what you like, look for tanks with similar airflow (see my recommendations above).

The 1Ω coil has a 1.8 mm airflow opening--nice and tight. The 0.5Ω coil--3.5 mm--much airier. Yes, the airflow is also regulated from the outside.

You just have to experiment to find your sweet spot. I enjoy both tighter and more open MTL vaping styles. Your coil build (coil ID, wicking) also is a factor. There are so many great choices nowadays. Have fun--and good luck!

Only two remain. A bit tricky to wick, but once you get the hang of it, piece of cake. Heckuva vape, and light as a feather. Love 'em.
TOBECO ERLKONIGIN MINI RTA REBUILDABLE TANK ATOMIZER CLONE

For me though, the beat all to end all is this:
Joyetech eGo ONE Mega V2 Tank

SS only. The colors are terrible, and the chip badly.

Blister pack coils, but ridiculously easy to re-wick and re-build. If I had to choose just one, it would be the latter.

Vaping, it's personal.

Why don’t you try the new Kayfun Prime? It is MTL only and in theory has the best features from a Mini v3 and the K5. Can’t wait to receive mine !

A cheaper alternative (haven’t tried it) is the Berserker from Vandy Vape. From what I’ve seen at the reviews it is a MTL only RTA

Well going against my grain a bit and stepping outside my usual zone I picked up an iStick Pico 25 with the Ello tank. I must say, wow! I am really loving the flavor and throat hit with a 6mg juice. I'm usually at 12mg with the Kayfuns.

Either my tastes have changed or this is a really nice setup compared to what I tried a few years back with subohm. I don't even remember what it was but that kept me away from subohm DTL until this setup.

I think I can get really used to this!

IMO the kabukis are the best when it comes to drop in coils and MTL. With that said, you will pay a hefty price tag for the convenience. You can get a kabuki Ti clone from FT for about $20 however, but it doesn't really measure up to the originals, though it sounds like you've actually progressed to more airy, cloudy vaping. The Nicolas (vapefly) is a great little, MTL topfill (subohm) tank it comes with a 1.8 and 0.6 coil, and I love how it vapes-- so much airier but still MTL. They were crazy on sale last time I checked, so I'm not sure if they are going out of production, and I've been meaning to buy coils which I need to Get On doing, so I'm not sure how long they'll be around, to be honest. It seems to be a completely different coil system. I hesitate to recommend them due to them getting so inexpensive, seemed like they might be going on clearance.

My tooth thing has distracted me on the coils, but I really need to order some.... I love that little tank, very convenient and nice taste/flavor/cloud balance, if you ask me.
