    Somewhere between here and there
I’m very excited to have the opportunity to review the new Geekvape Aegis Max kit which includes the Zeus sub ohm tank. It is a salute to the original Aegis 100 which used either a 26650 battery or 18650 battery with adapter. The kit was provided to me by Geekvape in order to give what I hope is a good and honest review. I’ve been a Geekvape fan since I bought my first Zeus single coil rta. I feel as though they go the extra mile to put out quality products at a reasonable price and have been very happy with almost every Geekvape product I’ve reviewed or purchased.

    First Impressions:

In my opinion, the Max has been a long time coming. Every time a new device was added to the Aegis line, I would hear people asking for a 21700 battery operated mod. Well, the people spoke and Geekvape listened. I won’t talk a whole lot about the Zeus sub ohm tank since I already did a review on it but do have one comment or story to tell about it. I had a DIY mix that I felt had lost its flavor and was considering dumping it. I had quite a bit left when I received the Max kit so decided to give it a try with the Zeus sub ohm tank and the .4 ohm coil. At 45 watts (yes much lower than the coil rating) and the airflow about half open, the mix I was about to dump out was given new life by the Zeus. I don’t normally go much over 30 watts normally but very much enjoyed the flavor and huge vapor production from the Zeus sub ohm tank. If you’d like to take a look at my review on the tank then here is the link for it.

The Max is a little taller than the Aegis 26650 but is thinner and feels more comfortable in the hand. The interface on the Max is the same as other Aegis mods. Five clicks of the fire button will turn on and off the device. Three clicks of the fire button will take you into the menu system where you can use the up and down buttons to navigate the menu and choose between the various modes which include power, VPC, TC, TCR, and bypass mode. Pressing the up and down button at the same time will lock or unlock the device.

The top of the Max is large enough to fit up to a 30mm tank. The charge/update port is located on the side of the unit which I like so the mod can stand up while charging if necessary and a normal battery charger isn’t available. I’ve heard a couple complaints on the types of buttons used on the Max where some would have preferred the style used on the Legend. I have no issue with the buttons and find them very comfortable to use. The Max has a battery cap much like the Solo where it is a threaded round cap. The cap is somewhat hard to turn but that is why a tool is included with the kit for loosening and tightening the cap. I’ve seen a review or two online where some thought the tool was for making coils. That is not the intended use for it. There are also vent holes in the bottom should a battery need to vent then it will break the seal on the bottom and be able to vent.

Running the Max around 45 watts, I was able to get nearly 300 on the puff counter before feeling the need to charge the battery. It was not completely dead but I don’t like to run them to the point where things shut down. Like all other mods in the Aegis line, it is IP-67 rated water resistant, dustproof, and shockproof. It has all of the normal safety features of an Aegis mod which are listed in the specifications section above. So in other words, it is the big brother to the Solo mod which is highly loved by many.

In the picture above is, from left to right, the Aegis mini, Aegis solo, Aegis Max, and Aegis 26650. I wanted to try to show that even though the Max is taller than the others, it is thinner than the 26650 and fits in my hand very nicely.

    Final Thoughts:

To me, the Aegis Max is the mod that a lot of people have been waiting for. It’s durable, reliable, uses a 21700 battery or 18650 with adapter, and quite simply just works well. I don’t have any cons on this device. Some might complain on the tightness of the battery cap but it needs that seal on the cap to stay water resistant. I think if I was going to change something about this kit then I would replace the Zeus sub ohm tank with the Zeus X Mesh tank. It would make sense to me to include the latest tank with the latest mod. Thanks again to Geekvape for providing the Aegis Max kit for my review and thanks to all who take the time to read my reviews. It is much appreciated and that is sincere. So, would I recommend this kit to others? Heck yes! If you’re a Geekvape fan or just want an all-around durable device then it’s a great one. I haven’t seen it yet but would think that the Max will be available as a mod only if sub ohm isn’t your thing or you have another favorite tank. Below is a link to the Aegis Max on Geekvape’s website if you’d like to learn more.

Another great review, I have 2 geekvape products the Aegis boost and the Solo. I like them just fine, but I had to buy a new boost after only 5 months, so the jury is still out. I'm a big fan of the freemax mesh tanks/coils, have you ever reviewed them?

Thank you. I did do a review a long time ago on the Freemax twister and I forget the name of the tank that came with it but remember it being very flavorful. I think it was a fireluke tank but am not sure. I have some stuff on the way that you might be interested in. Should be here by Friday and it’ll probably take a week or two to get the review written and posted.

I was hoping to get the new boost plus for review but have not for some reason. I know another good reviewer has gotten one and look forward to his review.

Mod is definitely in my wheelhouse the tank not so much but those single larger battery mods are rapidly becoming my favorite.

    Anna

It’s really nice to have the extra battery capacity. I had to run the stock coil in the Zeus higher than I normally run to get the right performance out of it but once I put my favorite Zeus single coil or Zeus mesh on it then I expect to get even more battery life.
