Hello again, I have several sub ohm tanks and RTA's, but the problem I do have with my RTA's, there is NO FLAVOR while vaping and using them, for example Hellvape Destiny , Nano Wasp, Kylin Mini V2 or even OFRF Gear , I can't get as much flavor I want or worse it is mute, what is the issue?
Do you think it is wicking?Or maybe the coils? I use prebuilt coils like Wotofo or GeekVape, and the cotton is the best ones which all are american made.
Although I'm sure it's not the juice, because when I use that juice inside a sub ohm tank, it gives tones of flavor. Would you please help me?! Why I don't get flavor?

Yeap man need practice...myself as I was build more and more I was getting better and flavour was better to the point I started using less flavourings ...

It's true tho that subohm tanks nowdays are all mesh and they perform very good....mesh is different tho some prefer mesh and others prefer coils but with both subohm tanks and rtas u can get good and lots of flavour...

I don't know how long it have those rtas but I suggest you focus on one of those and as u build u gonna get better at it.

I am gonna say some basic suggestions and I don't know if u do them already...

Use fused claptons ofc not nessesary need to be anything super extreme....something like 3*28/38 fused claptons as many wraps as u can fit into the deck I guess like 6-7 or more and it should at least give you some flavour...

The cotton must be tight through the coil and thin your tails to put them into the juice ports.....well that depends on the atomizer ofc but make sure the cotton is not stuffed to be able to wick good....then apply wattage until u get flavour or dry hit hahahahah :D

Generally speaking, the position of the coil in relation to the airflow hitting it is key in getting the most out of an RTA. With every RTA you just have to play around a little with coil position until you find the sweet spot.

Also, if your using cotton bacon stop it... that is the worst for carrying flavor out of all the wicking materials out there. Try instead something like native wicks platinum blend, or Japanese Organic cotton... I actually like the native wicks platinum as well, if not better in some applications than JOC or KGD.. (my favorite wicking material is Fuzion cotton, I believe that's made in the Philippines, but it is beyond excellent at carrying flavor)

After you find your RTA's sweet spot, you may like to try out many different wicking materials to see which one you like the most. That's what I did and it was quite helpful!

hope this helps some... good luck.

Hi and Welcome,
It sounds like you need more practice building your RTAs.
Please post the specific details of a current build in one of your RTAs.
And since you are sure it's not the juice, tell us about that as well; flavor, nicotine level, PG/VG ratio.

Cheers
I
I am using Hellvape Destiny , the build is Tri core Fused Clapton, Wotofo 26*3+38 N80 3mm 0.17ohm,the juice is Humble Smash Berriez , but the vg/pg ratio is not printed on the bottle, though I think it (VG)wouldn't be more than 70%.

You're right, I will focus only on one of my RTA's, and not building all of them once at the same time.

Oh you are correct, now that I'm thinking I see, the tails are always so thick, it might be one big reason for not getting the flavor. One question ,does it really matter to use handmade coils than the mass produced brand coils like Wotofo and Geekvape or other brands?

For my RTA's I like 22ga round kanthal 7 wraps at 2.5mm ID. I use these in a dual setup and ring in at .20 to .22 ohms. I never had a problem with flavor with this setup. They do good up to about 60 or so watts. These days I generally vape at 55watts though.
Do Kanthal give you the same flavor as Ni does?, though I don't use SS, ehich one does have the best flavot?

Since I've only ever used kanthal I really cant say. But I dont have any problems with flavor with my builds. When you start chasing the "best flavor " genie, no telling what rabbit hole you'll fall in. And with flavor being highly subjective, the best flavor is the one that you like best. You can experiment and should, to find that best you're looking for. For drop ins, I'm using fireluke mesh but for my rebuildables I've always used kanthal. Works for me

Coil position is most important for flavor imo. Concentrate on just one thing at a time. I always start with coil position personally. Tweak the coil either a bit higher or lower. If that doesn't completely dial the flavor in play with af. If you still feel like you are missing the sweet spot try a different id. I get better flavor from nichrome than from kanthal but prefer ss overall.

I get good flavour with all the materials..
Some people say kanthal gives them a metalic flavour and some others have allergies to other materials but I suggest u don't try find solution to your problem in that...you will hear many opinions in what is the "best" but it's not that matters that much if matters at all in my opinion ..

About the destiny rta in my opinion the coil u use is something I would use also and is good for the destiny cause this rta can't work with thin claptons need some biggy or many wraps for sure and 3mm inner diameter or 3.5mm

I am gonna guess the coil u mention is 5wrap coil premade and I think I would use that from 50 up to 65 watts maybe cause the destiny cools down the coil from both sizes and that's why requires lots of wattage to work in my opinion..

Also what I do on destiny is that I raise the coil in order the airflow to hit it a little lower and not on the sides...
The top of the coil is on the same level and maybe little higher than the edges of the posts...

And I use the airflow at half way open or just a liiiiiitle bit more

The things I say for the destiny ofc doesn't mean its the best build for it hahahaha just saying what I do maybe u try and like it or maybe u like something else...

Even tho I think u are spoiled by the strong instant and different flavour of the mesh coils from subohm tanks :p u will get your rtas to work tho just keep trying and enjoy it

Thanks for reply, I didn't ever think the cotton bacon be bad, or even worst of all. The bas news is I always wick with cotton bacon and have lots of them at home!! So I will use other ones to see the difference, thank you so much.

You mentioned a good point, I want to have the same flavor experience as I do with the sub ohm tanks, but why not? I mean I think if I wick nicely, I can have the same experience as I do with subs. Your opinion?

Mesh give strong flavour and you can get strong flavour with coils also but the thing is that mesh heats up instantly and it's different experience from coils if u are not used to them in the way u puff.

Important is to use the proper size coils for any given rta and build it good and adjusted to your liking and yes u gonna get good flavour but on one atomizer to the other u don't get same flavour even with same or similar build cause there is also that factor ....

Yes I overlooked that aspect. Honestly I been vaping my fireluke 2 mesh for a good while and haven't played with my other toys any.
