6 wraps around the 3/32 bit micro coil always works great with 24 gauge. My first build and still use it to this date
I do own an ohm meter. And i believe my battery is made for sub ohm.
What's the amp rating of your battery? That will determine how low you can build.
What battery do you have? And the steam link in my signature will give you some guidelines to follow for that battery.
I personally prefer 26 gauge. But that is just me. Some braided 28 woul be awesome as well. 24 is too hot for me.

I find that 5 try diff types of wire and diff build. Some I like so I use again some I don't and I don't build again. Right now, I'm dual coil at about 0.137 ohm. with 22 gauge kanthol. that's with 5 wraps on each.
.3 ohms is your floor and 1 ohm is your ceiling
try10 wraps of 24 on a 5/64 drill bit. Check it on the meter and if you like it build another one.

Fair warning, I'm not sure that battery fires anything much below 0.5ohms. If it can fire down to 0.3, that's crazy, and you can use the 24ga effectively. If it can't go that low, you're stuck using the 28ga or facing obnoxious "ramp up" times.

Well, if it was me, I would use your 28 gauge wire to build a very simple 1.0 ohm single micro-coil on a 1/16 or so mandrel, probably around 7 wraps. As soon as you start adding a second coil or getting all fancy, it logarithmically multiplies the things that can go wrong.
I just started using an rba this week. 28ga with 6 wraps on a 3/32 bit is giving me 1.2ohms... Cotton wick. Its an amazing difference from the carto's ive been using. Wife has a zmax so ive had to do 7 wraps to keep it above 1.3 (the min for the zmax) still... Wow!
