Hello ECFers!

New to forums, and to vaping in general really...1 1/2 months analog free now!!

Few quick questions for anyone who'd be kind of enough to answer:

I started off with an eGo,now I'm looking to move up to a 6v mod of some sort. But there are a few things that are really becoming a hindrance in my decision making process....

First of all, the 6v mods I'm seeing are way TOO BIG.I cant exactly carry most of these mods in my pocket without looking like I'm smuggling a banana.

So what is the smallest or a few of the smallest possible 6v mods I should consider?

My other issue with 6v mods,I've read alot of reports saying that they blow through attys like crazy,is this really as much as an issue as I've heard? Or is it just user error? And if so what can be done to prevent this? I'm a pretty heavy vaper and on my eGo my attys last about 2 weeks- a month. Can I expect the same on a 6v mod?

Last question..One of the 6v mods that caught my eye that wasn't GINORMOUS was The BB but it says right in the details that they do not recommend stacking bats to reach 6v.But I seem to notice this warning on alot of mods. How serious is that warning to be taken? Are these things really that dangerous once stacked?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Hello and congrats on making the switch. Look at notcigs.com.....they also have an ecf thread here at ecf....great product, great cs and great company. They offer variable vaping, where you can dial whatever voltage you want. Stacking can be used with the correct products......give notcigs a look, ask questions in their forum, you might like what you see.

Congrats! That's an excellent accomplishment!

Funny, that's why I can't wear Speedos.

So what is the smallest or a few of the smallest possible 6v mods I should consider?

Well, the thing about 6V mods is that they pretty well all use either two 3.7V RCR123A/16340 regulated to 6V or 2 3V LiFePO4 batteries. Either way you look at it these aren't going to be the smallest things in the world. If you want a really small, pocketable, palmable high volt mod, you might want to look into the Little Sister. It's variable voltage (0-6.5V) so you can dial in the voltage you want very easily. The downside is that it uses 2x 10440 batteries (600mAh standard, 350mAh high drain) in series to achieve that kind of voltage, so battery life isn't going to be the greatest. However, you can pick up a complete kit with 4 batts, atomizer and charger for a hair over $100, or the same kit with the vari-cool option (increases battery life) for $8 more than that.

The general rule of thumb when it comes to vaping at voltages above 3.7V is: You can have small, or you can have long-lasting, but you can't have both.

My other issue with 6v mods,I've read alot of reports saying that they blow through attys like crazy,is this really as much as an issue as I've heard? Or is it just user error? Depends on the atomizer. If you use a high resistance atomizer made for high voltage vaping they'll last much longer. If you're a dripper you shouldn't have any problem making a 3-3.5V atomizer last a good long time with proper maintenance. Otherwise you can go with 2.6ohm or higher cartos that could last just as long with proper maintenance.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Batt stacking without proper regulation can damage the batteries. If the mod isn't designed with proper regulation, it's not recommended you stack your batteries.

Or you can go Variable Voltage with a switching regulator (30-40% greater battery life) in a unit small enough to hang from a lanyard 8)

VV army tank is the 2nd from the right, a general size comparision to a few mods I have.

Here is the army tank firing a 1.5 ohm dual coil carto at 5.7 volts LOADED. Only one other VV mod out there with a switching regulator that can do that, and its not being made anymore. If you love dual coils, gotta get away from amp limited devices.

The GLV 2 is actually a 5 volt PV which actually makes it better than a 6 volt which for many is too harsh. The 5 volt GLV 2 is one of the best fixed volt PV's on the market.

But the suggestion of a variable volt is a good one. Many different shapes and sizes. The Darwin fits in my pocket and it's nice because it is flat and not round. Also nice because it won't roll off a table.

I like my v3 from puresmoker. You can use it at 3.7v and 6v. And as far as it being pocket friendly, I decided to get around that by ordering the custom made leather holster by Griff from SerenityGear Leather. Great for at work cuz it clips right to my tool bag for one handed ease of use when I need it.

Ditto, there a great mod, if I up grade again it'll be to one of them.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, some very useful info here.

I think I'm starting to lean towards a 5v mod now,or maybe a VV mod.

So will 5v put out very much more flavor/vapor vs a 3.7v?

After looking around I think I like The Little Sister, and the GLV2. Anyone have any input on either of those two?

I like The Little Sister because its VV,and tiny. I dont like the plastic shell though, looks cheap and Im afraid I'll break it =\ I was also reading that theres issues with it for those who drip,I guess it floods into the switch and bricks it? Dunno..

The GLV2 is a little bigger, looks nice but I guess there is issues with the some of the 510 attys not fitting right and not getting proper air flow?

Have you tried Low resistance cartomizers or attys on your ego? I was ready to move up to a mod, but after I tried LR cartos I never did get one. That was enough to satisfy me. Not to put down mods though. Many people swear by them. For me it was just cheaper to try some LR cartos first. I still may get a mod one day, but it's not a pressing matter right now.

PS: I did get to sample a GLV mod and it was pretty durn good.
