So I started vaping on the 12th, and I think I experienced my first burnt hit. I could taste a slight burnt rubber taste on the exhale, so I just took the thing apart and swapped to another coil I had cleaned and dried earlier. That was a mistake, because that time the burnt rubber taste was 10x stronger. I'm not sure if both coils went bad simultaneously or if the rubber taste just stuck around (probably the latter), but I had to toss both coils as well as the e-liquid remaining in my tank. That rubber smell permeates everything and I could still smell it a bit after cleaning the tank out well, but thankfully I couldn't taste it with a new coil.

I've heard that the BVCs don't do well with high wattages, but I thought that meant actual high wattages. I was vaping at around 16-17 watts, is that considered too much for the BVCs?

I've also noticed that the flavor becomes muted very quickly with the BVCs. I have some coils that I've cleaned and dried and the flavor honestly sucks compared to vaping with a fresh coil. I get maybe 50% of the flavor on the inhale, but the exhale (when I usually experience most of the flavor) tastes pretty close to just breathing out air.

I'm a little disappointed with the performance of the BVCs. And yes I checked their authenticity. I'm starting to understand why people go through the trouble of using an RBA.

I am pretty new to vaping too and just started using the BVC coils in an Aspire ET-S and a Nautilus Mini this past week. I am just using Ego VV batteries but I do have both 1.6 and 1.8 ohm coils I have tried. Sometimes even turning the voltage up to just 3.8 will produce a burnt taste. I make my own juice, 30mg/ml 30/70 pg/vg and in other attys I can up the voltage a little (4.0 max) without the burn. I have already cleaned a couple of the BVCs and they were fine after cleaning. I think some of it depends on the juice too.

I'm sure the BVC bashing will continue unabated until the next craze hits town.

16-17 watts is getting a little too high for the BVC. Folks who enjoy vaping in the 15-20 watt range are best to go with a RBA.

Meanwhile, if all the disappointed vapers who can't get any joy from these coils can send me their tanks and BVCs, they'll be sure to go to a good home. :)

I use bvc coils in my nauties and my et-s's, I find the sweet spot for me is 9w (using and mvp2) much higher I get spitting and start to get burnt tastes,
I have tanks set up with 1.6 and 1.8ohm coils and have vairious flavours from vairious brands on the go but 9w seems to suit everything

Start at 7W and work your way up in .5W increments. When you get your first burnt taste back it down a bit. I vape the BVCs between 7.5 and 8W on the istick.

I was vaping at 15-16 watts for a couple days before I got that burn rubber taste... and there's no "turning it back down a bit" by that point, that taste permeates everything including the coil head. Had to ditch the e-liquid in the tank and clean everything thoroughly. Threw away both heads too cause they reeked of burning rubber/fuel.

Interesting. I've recently started using a Nautilus mini and I've found that it just doesn't seem to give me a warm vape unless I turn it all the way up on my MVP. 11W is satisfactory but not quite where I want it. I'm thinking between 12 and 13 will do the job but the MVP won't quite go that far. It's good clean vape with lots of flavor, just not warm enough. However, it doesn't gurgle, and I haven't had a dry hit no matter how fast I chain it. Running the 1.8 coils that came with it.

Yes. This is why I bought Vamo out of retirement and bought an iStick. :)

11w isn't even 11 w. It is very noticeable.

Someone mentioned cleaning the bvc coils. How do you do that?

Wash it out and dry burn it. I wouldn't recommend it. Everything will taste awful with the first tank you load after. And yes, the quality of flavor you get degrades. Just buy new coils or rebuild at 1.5 - 1.8ohms. Seriously not worth the trouble to wash BVCs.

Bottom coil tanks do tend to give a cooler vapor than top coil tanks. That's why I use the Nautilus, I like a cool vapor and I'm not a huge fan of throat hit - but that's just my own personal preference. I do realize I am somewhat "unique" so take it with a grain of salt. :)
