I'm a huge fan of ELiquid Planet's Essence line. Before I talk about the flavor I'm reviewing (Coconut Cream), I want to take a moment to talk about the Essence line itself.
For those who have tried it, they know that there is something about the formulation such that it "hits" like higher nicotine liquids. For example, I typically vape at 3.6% (36 mg), but the Essence 1.6% (16 mg) feels like something more in the 3.0% (30 mg) or higher range. So if you're a high nic concentration vaper, don't let the lower nic levels of Essence scare you off.
The Essence line also tastes cleaner to me than almost all other liquids. With some liquids, the vape itself tastes okay, but the lingering taste afterwards is kind of off . . . like maybe a weird perfume or something. Not so with the Essence line. I literally lick my lips after a vape. The taste of the vape remains true and delicious.
I also appreciate the ELiquid Planet's packaging. Not only are the bottles sealed with a tamper-proof plastic wrapping, the bottles themselves come with childproof caps. To keep down the cost, you can buy a dropper separately (which is nice for those of us who have purchased Essence before--we can reuse droppers, and it brings down the cost a bit for repeat buyers since we don't have to fork over $ for droppers we don't need). And if that's not enough, the liquids (which are in glass bottles) are now coming in rigid, see-through plastic boxes.
Personally, even though I don't have young ones, I very much appreciate the childproof packaging and think it ought to be an industry standard. I also like the glass bottles. There is no chance of the bottling itself imparting an off-taste or contamination to the liquid.
Josh recently added some new flavors to the Essence lineup. I bought everything he had on the site, but the only one I'm reviewing right now is the Coconut Cream because, well, I haven't been able to put it down long enough to try the others.
I'm vaping on an eGo battery with a LR 510 atomizer. I am not using the cone that comes with the eGo . . . I am direct dripping and tailpiping. (Hey, that's just the way I roll.
)
Oh. my. God.
Yeah, it's that good. It's subtle yet at the same time bold. (And, no, I can't explain that.) The taste has a natural sweetness to it, but not at all cloying or overwhelming. The dominant flavor is very much coconut, but smooth . . . not sharp and, as I said, not unnaturally sweet.
I'm terrible with describing tastes, and I'm very, very aware that taste is a subjective thing. In fact, that's why I rarely do liquid reviews. But there's something special about the Essence line . . . something very, very special . . . so I'm putting myself out there.
If you're used to buying inexpensive liquids, the price point might give you pause . . . $14.99 for 15 ml. In fact, when Josh first came out with the Essence line, I complained a bit about the price, telling him that I needed to hear more than "made in the U.S." for me to shell out $1 a ml (well, actually a bit less than that because you can do a coupon code for 10% off--ECF10).
Well, the proof is in the pudding. I've tried Essence (heck, I'll try just about anything once), and I'm hooked. The flavors are like nothing else out there, and the clean taste makes it virtually impossible for me to vape the traditional liquids. I've been vaping long enough to have tried quite a few liquids, and I've come to the profound conclusion that sometimes you really do get what you pay for. This liquid is simply different, and it's worth every penny (and then some).
