Isticks are generally reliable inexpensive power devices.
Could be you both got old stock that had been sitting on a shelf for quite some time or counterfeit / copycat products.
All batteries have a finite life.
Age, heat, cold, typical amp load & charge cycles all play a part in how long they last.

I suggest replacing them with removable battery type power devices.

I've got four iSticks and haven't had a minute's trouble with any of them. I love mine and plan to stock up on them as well as on mods with external batteries. I'd take your iStick to the vape shop where you bought them, or any vape shop and ask them if they have suggestions for you. You don't have to have bought your vape gear at the shop to go in and ask them questions and get advice. I once went in to a neighborhood shop to complain about wanting more airflow on a starter kit that I had bought elsewhere and the shop owner told me he'd fix it. He took it and drilled extra large air holes in my mod. It make a huge improvement to the quality of my vape and he didn't charge me a dime.

I remember hearing the early iStick 50s were problematic, but that's about it.

Let us know how this all works out for you.
