As the title says i have a Efest 18500. I go to plug in my charger and the light turns green, then i put my battery on the charger and it flashes red but then goes right back to green. I have a second Efest 18500 battery that when i put it on the charger the light turns red and everything. I know the one that wont charge isn't broken, it will produce vapor, just very little because it needs to be charged. I'm not really sure what kind of charger i have, i got it from a vape shop and they gave it to me in a bag, not the box it came in. but it has this same logo as this charger:

Only difference is that mine is only a single bay charger.

Yeah, it'd be awesome to know whats up with this thing. I just don't know what could be wrong, I've treated the two batterys the same. Is it possible to over-discharge it or something?lol

Thanks to anyone that can help me,
TheMelody

1: That's why regulated mod's come with a screen and can tell you your battery voltage so you know what's up.
2: Yes you can over discharge lithium batteries; they have to be kept charged. That's why a regulated mod cuts off when the battery voltage drops below around 3.3 volts. It protects your battery from overdischarge.

It is a 3.7v battery, and it's being used in a caravela mech mod with brass connectors.
There's a good chance you over-discharged that battery in a mechanical mod. Once a battery drops too low on a charge, its dead. A couple of the top line chargers (ie Xtar VP1) can resurrect these batteries with special over-discharge algorhythms if they have not dropped too low on a charge.

I figured it was.lol

Well thanks

Yes it is a lithium battery with nominal operating voltage of 3.7 (3.3 to 4.2), but you do not have a mod or voltmeter or a good charger that tell you what the actual voltage of the battery is at this time. This is the problem.

If you had a regulated mod, it would tell you what the actual voltage of the battery is any time you wanted.

If it is over discharged, the voltage is probably 2.5 to 2.8
You need to measure it.

Is it possible to add regulation to an unregulated mod, such as an Astro clone?

I agree with the voltages, it's imperative to battery life not to vape one until it's dead & to measure with a multimeter as they come off the charger. Mine's a Efest LUC V2, shows voltages, but I measure anyway.

Don't like my batteries to drop below 3.7.

I'm not familiar with the Astro clone. Very often, a Kick can be added to a mechanical mod to regulate the voltage. It will give the same over-discharge and short circuit protection that a regulated mod has, too. Of course, it will not measure the voltage like a regulated mod can. Often it is necessary to drop a battery size in an 18650 mech mod down to an 18490/18500 size to make room for the Kick.

Thanks Baditude!

My Astro clone is a telescoping one (similar to the original, but less brass) & I use the AW 18490 batteries. These, I get from a source that carries one of the more popular mods, the ProVape site.

AW IMR Batteries: Ecigarette Batteries, ECig Batteries, Battery 18500

I figure if they're coming from the source that distributes these mods direct, they're the real deal.

Will look further into the Kick product.
