Sooo I vape few months
My first rebuildable was the hellvape md....
I Like this atty a lot for mtl and restricted long slow puffs...

I had problems with it at first...flooding ,and leaks....then stuffed lot of cotton but nothing
I tried a lot for almost 2months as I was using it and I found the problems that my unit had...

Problems fixed and then boom dry hit...I was able to wick it with normal/less amount of cotton and never had leaks again...or dry hits

My second rebuildable is the Zeus x rta....have heard good things about....only problem I have seen on internet was that the chimney wasn't press fitted properly cause leaks and flooding.....u give it a good hit or press it hard and it presses into place...
I was thinking ok ..I like this atty even if has that I will fix it...Soo order it...

Mine didnt had the gap on chimney at all...guess was first batch problem....first
wicking all works good...no problems But just a liiiiiittle spitback....
Ok maybe cotton wasn't enough..then i stuff lot more..trying to get a dry hit...still same...
Hmmmm...a little spitback...not crazy flooding just more saturation on coil that it should...but why..
Turns out checking the o-rings that the one of the topfill cap even tho the atty is new it was a liiiiiiittle thinner and stretched than the others in the package...
Put one of the spares and then I vape....
BOOOOOOOOOM DRY HIT!!!! WHEN CHAIN vaping

I vape 5months and had dry hits only a couple of times... For me dry hit means my atty is fine...I can fix that...leaking and flooding is what I can't fix (easy or not at all maybe)hahahaha
That's why the title....
Sooo if u have leaks and flooding...check that the section of the atty that holds the juice (tank) that it seals properly....u may don't have juice leaks outside but air can go inside it....

The only place where air should pass is through the cotton...yes it breaths...
At least in the attys I own and the attys I see on internet and videos that don't have juice control...

    I agree 100%.

Coil building and installing is an easy skill to learn. Wicking is all about trial and error and perseverance. And with a new RTA I'd much rather have dry hits, than leaking

I understand what you are saying (and yes... leaking is not good) but your title says you like dry hits (not me) RTAs are tricky (I am still having issues with ones I have built several times and were fine) Dry hits ( on a fresh build) simply means it's not ready... don't rush it, do some "primer puffs" (draw air without firing) Then (using lower watts than you expect to use) slowly do some short draws, primer puff, some more short draws, ect. Once it starts wicking, slowly increase wattage and so on (I recently did a re-wick on my RTA... let it sit all night... first try was a dry hit so I panicked and did some really hard draws with the airflow closed... no more dry hits but it flooded like crazy (always do primer puffs with the airflow partially open) Don't give up. Every RTA has issues... you do it a few times, get it right and then it's a breeze... just do it the same every time once you get it right. I got really frustrated with my RTAs and just sold out to drop-in coils for awhile (was too busy to deal with rebuilding) but that is exactly what I want to avoid (buying more drop-in coils... if I can even find them) Be patient... keep trying, it's worth it ;)

Dry hits on an RTA are 99% of the time, caused by too much cotton. And it's an easy fix - which was the point of this thread. You simply rewick and use less cotton.

Once I've rewicked an RTA, I prime it by smothering it in juice and pulsing it at low wattages with the tank off. I juice it again and plop the tank on. I vape it at a low wattage first for a puff or two - then turn it up to my preferred wattage for that coil. And off I go to chainvaping heaven.

I do no primer puffs, no sitting and waiting for the juice to soak in, and no leaving it overnight.

I have done the same (and still got a dry hit the next morning) Should have waited... got impatient and did some hard "primer puffs" with the airflow closed... backfired on me... leaked all over (and I knew better) Patience is the key ;)

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dry hits don't make me happy, but they don't make me as angry as leaking, especially on an over-engineered RTA like a Kayfun or Taifun where there are a bajillion orings and therefore a bajillion spots where a faulty seal might be the culprit of flooding that leads to airflow leaking (a common problem on top fill RTAs). :-x

I can't say I enjoy dry hits and actually I have never gotten one with an RTA, even on that uh, live review I did where I took a parallel coil deck up to 90 watts, and did not cough.

I guess I am an excellent WICKER! LOL perhaps it is the rayon. And actually, with rayon the moment I switched to it, I haven't really leaked too many RTAs either, like count on the finger of one hand thing. And usually, I kind of know it even ahead of time, like "Did I wick this quite enough?" and then I chanced it, when I shouldn't.

My dry hits have all MOSTLY been drop in coils, where I have somehow turned my wattage up (usually while driving) and they SUCK. Maybe it is not so bad with an RTA, but I do not know....
