The ........ is a common side effect of quitting smoking, it does eventually stop. The OP's just going to have to suffer through it all again. You would have been better off just letting nature take it's course.
Sorry.
It is also a common side effect of getting too much nicotine in your system.
Ok, some one mentioned the "filter" shooting in to your mouth. This is a possible thing. How are we going to avoid this? I have a few ideas.
1) move to a device with a removable drip tip similar to but not limited to a protank 2 style drip tip. Remove the O ring and instead place a piece or two of cheese cloth over the hole. You want the edges to over lap the sides of the device. YES it works, I just did it in my kitchen. When you have done this seat the drip tip back in to the device. It will be slightly loose, which will make your hits more airy.
Try the draw. I do not suffer from e-juice "spray" so it is difficult for me to judge if this will work. I was able to get vapor production, it is not quite what i was used to but i was able to get my nicotine fix. IF this works for you cut a few more patches and take them with you when you are out and about. You will get saturation at some point which means you will get juice in your throat. IF you start feeling wet hits then change the cloth out. Cheese Cloth is dirt cheap *in the states at least* so it should be a fairly cheap way to avoid too much juice.
All of my statements above are from 1 trial run, in my kitchen, on a device that works 98% of the time. I am assuming you are not flooding out your coils, you are not "dripping" and you are not...making device mistakes.... yeah that is a polite way to phrase it. YMMV.
