Hey Reo-Junkies,

I don't post here often, because I'm very happy with my Reo. Need to get me a VV Reo, but that's a story for another day.

But, I've run into an issue.

Initially, I noticed one of the two magnets that holds my door in place had fallen out. It didn't hinder the functionality much, so I didn't bother with it.

However, I then found the magnet stuck to the gear shift in my car about 2 months later. (Yeah..I don't know how it got there, either :) ). So, without thinking about how magnets actually work..I went ahead and threw the magnet in the empty hole. it's seeded just fine but I have the polarity reversed now.

Meaning...the magnet that fell out seems to be in the hole with the wrong side facing out. So it actually repels the magnet on the body now.

This has caused my door to be very loose and constantly slips out in my hands, makes my vaping a little aggrevating, etc.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get that magnet out so I can flip it?

The obvious path is get a bigger magnet to pull it out..but I know these are rare earth magnets in the Reo, so do I need a similar bot stronger magent?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Yes a larger, stronger magnet should work! You can also tap it on a table some to see if it will pop out.

When you want to put it in make sure you test which side you will need. Place it against the magnet on the door then mark an X with a marker on the side you see. When you put it in you can use a drop of super glue if you want, put the marked side down.

Hmm thats an option too. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I actually had a spring melt down on me which I jerry rigged (atomizer short I think) and I still need to get that fixed.

I'll send you a PM here to see if I can buy those from you, etc.

Thanks again everyone!
You can find the springs in the accessories section of my site

I've used acetone to soak bottom of door to get magnets out (a few times - it seems no matter how careful I've been I've managed to get one in wrong here and there. Actually there haven't been that many.) I even soaked a couple of REOs upside down in acetone but I don't recommend doing this. One was fine as I didn't soak it for too long but one had to go to REO spa after I left it soaking over night and melted the black firing pin cover and button. (a disclamer here.... some of the very first REOs didn't have magnets aligned all the same so when we got new doors for them we had to take some magnets out for all doors to work on all REOs of same size.)

I like Robert's suggestion to use solding gun to heat up magnet. I have one 18490 Woodvil that magnet fell out of. I glued a magnet in that was too small and not strong enough. Door doesn't align properly now. That one is going to REO to take magnet out and put new in.
