I downloaded a coil calculator for my iPhone, but one of the fields asks for the coil leg length. Is there a specific length i need? I mean it's get cut down anyway right? I life the calculator features as it Gives

all the pertinent information or at least a good guideline. So what do i use as a leg length?

I believe that is going to be the length of the leg from the coil to the post. The closer the coil to the post, the shorter the leg, the lower the resistance. Even if your not sure the final position that you're going to mount your coil, it's still a good guide to get you in the ballpark.

Ask yourself this question:
If you have a 56.5mm length of 24 gauge wire, and the resistance for that wire is 0.4Ω... how much is functional coil and how much power wasted to the legs?

The number of wraps and mandrel OD have nothing to do with net resistance... just functional resistance.
Wrap count and coil ID determine only physical shape... wire gauge and length determine finished resistance... as the finished "legs" (terminal to terminal) are part of the wires length, they are part of the resistance.

Steam Engine and some other coil modeling programs account for leg length. On Steam Engine, scroll down to the "results" section and look at the last entry... "leg power loss". That expresses in a percentage, the amount of power you waste to leg length.

it's not the extra leg that you cut off, it's the distance from the post to the coil.

That would depend on the atty and where the airflow comes in. The N22, Freakshow Mini. mad hatter, Rogue the Rogue has a top airflow the others are bottom airflow but all of them has air that comes in from the side turns 90 degrees and the coils need to be right over or under the airflow so the coil leg length would need to be 7-10 mm depending on the coil diameter.

In my Goblin Mini and its claustrophobic deck the leg length can't be much over 1-2 mm.

Having the length so the airflow hits the coil(s) correctly is far more important than worrying about the leg length.
