Close to four weeks and struggling

Hi all,
17 October I finished my last pack. I had a couple of cigs (6 in all) at parties - last one two weeks ago. I promised myself not to buy another pack and I haven't. Today I went out with a friend to a place that smelled a lot of smoke. Absolutely nasty! And yet the evening was completely ruined as I really wanted to smoke. I vaped my 24mg and even hit a couple of nicorette mixrotabs while there, but an overall miserable experience. Was it the smell maybe? I wonder if bumming a cig off someone would have helped. Crazy! When I got home the urge sort-of subsided but really feeling the urge even after chain-vaping a full tank of my ADB. Sorry, a rant - but so horrid after almost four weeks feeling "in control". You folks here have been lovely, so sharing as I know there is always someone out there who has been here....

Hang in there! I can't hardly go to my favorite casinos anymore due to the smell of smoke! Just remember the way the smoke and people smell is the way you'll smell if you pick up again! Picking up again is not an option for me at all because of the smell for one reason. Live long and vape on!:vapor:

Give it some time and it won't bother you as much. My husband has the same problem if I have been smoking and he walks into the room and smells it (I try to hide it from him as I've not got my e-cig setup right yet).

He often has the odd cigarette from me but the few that he has had because of me are far far less than what he was smoking on a daily basis before his e-cig. I'm really proud (jealous) of him. You should be proud of yourself too. Keep it up.

You're almost over the hump! I kinda stopped going out drinking for the first month of vaping, still had a few beers at home though :D another week or so your smell will really come back and instead of smelling cigarettes you'll smell burning tar and wonder why you've never smelled/tasted it before!

This is normal. Cigarettes have such a hold on us that it takes a very long time for the cravings to pass. Kudos to you for resisting the urge!

I have been vaping for many years now. Still when I am exposed to smokers, I really want to smoke. At this point I am able to get passed the urge and with time you will be able to do the same.

Hang in there and good luck!

You got it.

My uncle had stopped smoking for 20 years then a person in the neighborhood started working there and they shared rides to save money on fuel within 2 weeks he was as much s nicotine addict as he was and didn't completely quit again until 7 years after he retired.

If you love your husband you'd get your rig fixed and give up the analogs! I know if my wife was smoker I be doomed! Support your husband by at least smoking outside (if you don't already). Not only that smoking outside makes it a P.I.T.A. for you to smoke so it might get you to look at vaping more. Don't mean to yell at a new member. Just trying to save lives one vape / vaper at a time!:hubba::thumbs:

Stay determined. Parties are going to tempt you if there is smoking there. Alcohol use will lower your resolve.

Good plan to vape more/frequently when you feel the urge for a smoke. If necessary, smoke HALF a cigarette, and save the rest for the next craving. Partly smoked butts taste pretty terrible, but that's what helped me to make the transition.

A friend of mine quit by placing her butts in a small glass jar with a little bit of water. When she got a craving, she opened up the lid and took a whiff of the disgusting mixture. That worked for her.

^^THIS^^. Four years vaping for me and if I didn't vape I'm almost certain I would buy a pack. I go to the casino and someone lights up next to me and it STILL smells good... That first blast from a freshly lit. After that it's all nastiness but still... How can it still smell good??? Not to discourage,,, it does get easier and I know I will never buy tobacco again but it just tells you what a strong hold they have on us.

Went with my BF to visit a friend of his this weekend. He was a vaper last time I was there, so I thought - hey, what would go wrong? He had his new GF and another friend over... who both are smokers.. and he stopped vaping too... 3 people lighting up analogs at the same time in the same place right in my face....

I'm not gonna lie, the first 15 minuttes were hell - I even whispered to my BF - did you even THINK of this before bringing me over? Cravings passed though - especially since they were watching me vape and commenting on how jealous they were at the amount of "smoke" I could get from my device. That actually helped a lot. I thought "hell, if the smokers wanna have my vape, why should I sit here and want an analog? Makes no sence. I'm just gonna keep on with my delicious coconut".

Clothes and hair smelled like an ashtray as soon as I got outisde - made me kinda proud of myself and grossed out 'cause - this is what I have been smelling like to other people for almost two decades.. Ewww :)

My friend dont fight with stinkies. After that much time without a smoke you will not like it. Try one and dont be ashamed if you like it ok so what?
Just try to have vape before an urge comes vape if you are still uneasy light one.
You just decide I will vape and quit smoking. try vaping first but if you feel an urge dont fight with it. In the end it will take you to other side. Dont fight give it a try .
Sooner or later you will come to a point you either dislike it or what is the use I am happy with my vape. point. Be patient.
Dont count the ones you smoke count them you did not.

I did sort of what Baditude did. I allowed myself to light one up, (I think I psychologically needed that part) took a puff or two and let it sit in the ashtray burning away while I vaped.

Took about 6 wks of a few a day down from 30 so I didn't care, I only ever wanted to cut back somewhat.

After trying everything it seems like I'm allergic to pg but I'm not giving up yet. Keep going. I'm going to quit these horrid cigarettes one way or another. You are keeping me going. Don't give up.
We're here! This forum really helps, I think, so reach out when you are ready or need help. Look at this thread - 12 hours in and all of this support. Lovely!
Just FYI - it took me a good 6 months before I packed in the cigs. I spent bizarre amounts of money trying juices and gadgets. Day-to-day it really isn't that tough. I make a point of noticing how bad smokers smell (I don't comment of course) which makes me happy I know I don't smell like that anymore. Great motivator!

Eryger, you don't say what kind of device you're vaping on. Perhaps a different device that delivers more vapor would help, too. Just a thought.
I have a few setups. My preferred is istick/nautilus, but also a provari and aerotank as alternate (I actually don't like the massive clouds made with the Provari). I have a lovely ADV and some high-nic backup. It's fine day-to-day. I shouted out precisely because I have not had a terribly hard time, and all of a sudden the urge floored me. Go figure!

Hey. That's a bit harsh. It takes some longer than others and clearly fiddlefingers is trying. See her other posts - issues with PG etc can set anyone back. I don't think guilt tripping is the way to get her to make the leap. I know you mean well, and not being argumentative, I just know if this is how I'd been welcomed in this forum I would not have used it as much and it's been so Critical.
