Hi. I just got the rta core for my (beloved) cleito, and it leaks like a sieve. Seals and rings are fine. Using rayon wicking but still with the dual Clapton coils that came with. Does anyone have any experience, tips or tricks to share on this puppy?

Thanks!

My Cleito RTA also leaks horribly. I've watched every available video and I've wicked it multiple seperate times - dry wick and wet wick - I've made sure the juice channels were stuffed with cotton but no matter how I do it, it leaks all its contents from the airholes after a few hits. I have even tried vaping it completely straight up and down without tilting the tank (which sucks) but that didn't make a difference. What is the trick? I'm worried I'm going to have to wait months for a video/forum explaining "the trick" to this RTA...

Okay I watched 2 videos wicking methods and I was using way too much cotton and cutting it too long. I guess less really is better with the Cleito. I rewicked it and so far so good so I think that was the problem. If it starts leaking again I will update but otherwise you can assume my issue is resolved by wicking it like these youtube videos...

I have this RTA...had it for about a month now...I get a little leak around the AFC. but never does it come pouring out or anything. I think it's more condensation than anything. I usually cut pretty beefy wicks for this RTA. Not length wise but width. You want a thick wick for it. A lot of cotton. I mean the wick has to almost not fit in the coil. You see some people wick really loose, this will not work for the Cleito. Also, in the juice holes you want it flush with the outside. If there is an indention at all it will leak. Completely fill the wicking channels. Also of course the viscosity of your juice will make a difference. If you are using a thin juice you will want to make them even thicker...These are made for at least 75/25 or somewhere in that ballpark. The thinner the juice the denser the wick has to be. Another tip, when wicking make sure the wicks are not touching the ir flow holes at all...push them away from it on the inside. watch this one, and see how "full" the juice channels are...

I watched all these and there's absolutely nothing going on in these successful videos I haven't tried myself. In fact my first build and wicking tries looked exactly like @Lantana's second video. Except my coils were more squeezed together, per most Clapton build recommendations (so they heat evenly from the inside out - no hot spots). I vape with Max-VG or at least 80/20, so that's not the problem. This thing is driving me crazy. I really like the way this deck vapes, when it's working. I just wish I could stop the leaking. :(

I don't know if links are allowed so I just put the title of the video and the name of the channel above but here are the links:

I also noticed The Vape Venue guy made no distinction about closing the air flow holes before filling - which others have told me is the problem. But I can't find any difference there either. I close them before filling, it leaks. I leave them open, it leaks. I've tried tons of cotton, barely enough, and "just right" (several times), and I've tried rayon wicking as well. The juice just pours through, straight out the bottom air holes, when I fill the tank.

My buddy just gave me a tip that has now made me actually like this rta.

When filling the cleito rta with juice fill it up, screw on top nice and tight then turn the rta upside down for about 15 seconds. Since I purchased this every time I filled this it leaked out the air holes quite substantially. After the first refill followed by turning it upside down I've had 0 leak issues. ( air holes remain open when turned upside down) . Vaccum gets created while no juice is being fed down by gravity). Good luck!

Thanks for that tip! I was having problems with the Cleito RTA leaking too but no leaks with the coils. Not much, maybe a half ml at the most, but still annoying. Tried that upside down technique after refilling and no leaks now after testing 3 tanks worth!

A suggestion to the OP is to make sure that you are not over tightening the rta into the base of the tank. Read a recent post in another thread with a Cleito leak with the coils and someone suggested that because over tightening it may cause o-ring in the bottom to compress too much allowing leaking to occur.

I too have had serious leaking problems with either stock or the RTA on this tank. I love the vape but can't stand the leaking and waste.
I've tried every method I could in wicking to remedy this.
Before I read Supergreen54's post I had thought of trying turning it upside down after refill, it works great and no leaks for a week now! I just love the flavor and nice warm vapor I get from this tank. It's been a frustrating experience getting it worked out but well worth it.
I don't understand how some haven't had any leak problems and others have it leak like a sieve.
I've been vaping for six years so I'm not unfamiliar with how coils are to be wicked just right. But this one is pretty finicky and every method leaked until I turned it upside down immediately after a fill. Finally loving my Cleito RTA with fatboy so I'm not refilling every hour!

I am curious though to know exactly how people that have no leaking problems are wicking. Do you also close air holes before refilling? I too followed all methods shown in every video I could find with no luck stopping the leak problem.

Like I said earlier I had bad leaking even with the stock coils too, the seals look good and aren't crushed, and I had it nice and snug when assembled.

Maybe there's just some leakers that were produced by some error in manufacturing. IDK

I got the RTA System recently, everything runs fine until I try to refill the tank. Soon as I remove the top cap ( with airflow closed) bubbles come up to the top and juice floods into the RTA then down to the base. I haven't tried the turning it upside down method yet. So yeah, everything is fine until I try to refill or top up the tank.

eLicky,
It isn't perfect but it is much better for me at least"
I also have put a piece of cotton in one air slot facing you, in the direction of tilt towards yourself. That still leaves two air holes open. It catches the slight seepage you may still get.
Definitely not perfect but hey it works.

My Cousin has the Cleito. Man i LOVE the airflow on that thing! I would pick one up but whenever i use his i always get spit back. Closing the airflow a bit helps, but it kinda defeats the purpose since i love the airflow on it all the way open and don't like closing it off lol. It also feels kind of flimsy/cheaply made, probably due to how light it is. I can't see it surviving a fall and just picture the whole thing shattering into a million pieces if dropped, i'm not talking about just the glass, like i mean the whole RTA just exploding.

Well your not suppose to drop it...lol

I'd welcome just a spit back problem, sometimes that is solved by turning it upside down occasionally or fitting a screen in the chamber. Leaks are a total pain on this one. Some are lucky and have no problems with it.
I've dropped mine with the fat boy glass and a band, it survived just fine.

A quick google search for "rta leaks" found this thread for me. Want to share my experience and what works for me.

I am new to vaping. The cleito is my first tank i bought separately and man I love it. Only problem I had was that the damn thing leaked like a sieve. Not the rta mind you, but the preassembled coils. Bothered me to no end. Ordered the rta and wicked it like this video BUT... i was lazy with the little "tufts" and I forced the cotton down into the flow channels. Basically it was tighter than this video. Again, leaks...

Took my time and made the wicks exactly like this video, paying particular attention to how he kind of folds it back to push the cotton down and to the puffier "tufts."

Additionally, I began to turn it upside down with air flow wide open as mentioned earlier.

No leaks at all.
