I simply take it apart an soak the majority of it in warm water. Now as for the head you have a couple of ways to clean it without damaging it. Best method I've found is vodka, ever clear or 99% alcohol. Now nothing like that on hand I would then rinse it under water and let it air dry. Meanwhile use the other head and swap them back and forth. I've only had one fail since I got mine last November and I use it a lot.

I agree with joecil 99% - exception - only use vodka, everclear or water to clean the head with - do NOT use isopropyl alcohol to clean your head with as it may leave a slight residue you do not want to vape - better safe than sorry

if your are disassembling it to wash it in the sink make sure you have a plastic colander in the sink in case of dropping any components - nothing worse than breaking the glass right off the bat (been there, done that)

Both posters are spot on - especially about the plastic colander in the sink. I've lost several bits down the plug before figuring this out myself.

Rinsing under hot water every 2-4 tank fills and your heads should last weeks. If you notice a drop-off in performance and even soaking will not improve it, you can try a quick dry-burn. This is firing the coil on your battery without having it installed in the tank. This burns off any residues on the wire.

Some people prefer soaking, others prefer dry burning. The result is the same - a clean coil gives a much better vape.

If you want more information on dry-burning you can do a quick youtube search. There are literally hundreds of cleaning videos out there.

Give everything a vodka/ grain alcohol soak overnight and let the coil assembly dry out for a while.

I tried dry burning a coil and everything had a scorched taste after that. Had to trash the coil assembly. I took it apart before throwing it away. There is a wick of sorts that wraps around the coil chamber, it was scorched and burnt. I don't think dry burning these coils is the way to go. YMMV

I agree on the dry burning. I couldn't get rid of the burnt taste after dry burning mine. I swapped the heads and now it is back to normal.

Ok, I'm glad to know the iso alc isn't good. I can't get vodka/everclear being a recovering alcoholic so I can only use warm water I guess. I'm not too worried about cleaning coils though since they are pretty cheap but I have some tanks that have had old fluid sitting in there for months that I didn't clean and nothing seems to clean them; it's a weird nasty smell/taste I can't get rid of. My Trophy Tank is glass though and it smells/tastes bad so I'm hoping soaking in warm water will save it. I've had it for months and still haven't needed to change the coils. I have no idea what coils the trophy tanks even take though, but that coil is definitely non-cleanable at this point, I used chocolate flavored fluid and the wicks have dried dark brown :/

I'm trying to get only glass after at MT Baker they have a list of tank cracker's for plastic ones. Plus I don't want to be breathing in toxins that something like cinnamon flavors will eat away at the plastic.

Oh, does anyone know how long to let the tanks sit in the warm water? Before I was just rinsing them out but I want to soak them if that's better but I don't know how long. I'm guessing about 30 min, or until the water turns back to room temp?

Umm, yeah. You definitely need to change your coils out if you have been using the same one for months.

Use PURE GOOD grade of Plain "PG". That is what I use to clean parts SOMEITMES, when other fluids for one reassn or another, are not possible. I can't use alcy based fluids, as I'd end up DRINKING them. SO, I make all my own juices, so I just ried PG one dahy, since it will remove some real garbage from odd assorted components so I've found. It's the Ethyl base that PG contains. Or, Methyl, if you use PG as in "Antifreeze" (REALLY bad idea). Alchys get some weird ideas about where and what to "DRINK" sometimes.
Just soak in regular PG, PURE, cheap as all get out. I pay about 10$ a quart for Palm fruit oil based PG. The BEST if Kosher, and USDA, and done by reputable company. SImly soak in PG, then AIR it out, it will evaporate for the most part, but, Not too quickly as Pure alchohol would. Give it a couple hours, then rinse, and vape.
THIS may be the wrong place for this sort of thing BUT, On your coils you replace, SAVE the old ones, and Look for a U Tube VId. on re building the coils in a Nautilus. VERY simple. I build simple 32 gauge 7 wrap coils around 2.5mm silica, and just put ONE in. Give you the vapor and flavor of those TWO joke coils the factory builds. I've donee two, but, takes a LOT longer, and not worth the effort. But, ONE, is simple. LOOK at it, and see. I even replace the filler material. They are alwys good, always taste good, and always last longer. IF you use XC116, or ReadyXwick from RBA Supplies LLC, you'll get a coil that lasts for a month or more, and can be cleaned and reused. THAT is my favorite wicking material rather than silica.
The above all of it, may sound wierd and goofy, but, imagine, how the idea of electricity, or wireless phones came off when first thought up. The above, DOES WORK. Just a bit ODDLY. And, cheaply. Save money, buy better juice too, makes coils last longer.

Is it possible to rebuild Nautilus heads??

Also the part where the coil goes in - the thread - looking into it, it is a bit dark after this set of juice.....can I/ do I need to clean it if the taste is off, or is that something else?

Can I clean it with normal kitchen things?

Thanks

OF COUSE u can rebuild, THAT is what I told about above. Just go to U tube, and search for Rebuilding Nautilus Coils. And, watch several, pick the easiest one for you. TO me, the one that I said is easiest, is a SINGLE COIL rebuild, rebuilding only the TOP coil, but, in the beginning, you remove both. And, IF you use good silica, or XC116, you have a coil that will last a GOOD long while. And, is easy, VERY cheap, and satisfying to build. Don't weorry about the discoloration, the filler is hard to clean, but soaking in Pure alcohol, or PG will do a fairly good job. Or, simply pop in some new filler, and a rebuilt BY YOU coil, all as taught by U tube. Their are MANY MANY Utubes on this topic, I won't recommend one, find one that you are comfortable with. As to "OFF" taste, it depends on your definition of "OFF".

One of the easiest and cheapest changes you can make is to swap out your glass tank for a stainless steel one. While you lose the ability to see what's in there, it becomes an almost unbreakable device. I still use a fine mesh strainer when I clean it in the sink but I no longer worry about breaking the tank!

Oh, you know I really am fascinated by aviation. I never knew they did it all with rubber bands.

I just swirl mine around in a glass of warm to hot water after letting it set for about five minutes to soak. :) Good luck with rebuilding those coils, let us know how it goes. I've still got one extra and then I'll be joining you in that, I watched the YouTube on it and it doesn't look that difficult

Vape ON!!
