So since about noon today I have had this pain in the right side of my chest only. It hurts when I take normal breaths and when I yawn or cough. I have been taking shorter breaths, but it is still uncomfortable. Anyone else have this feeling before? Bout to go see a doctor in the morning if I still have this...

i've never had to get the fluid drained. Usually holding my breath gets rid of the extra liquid. And if you run fever or feel tired or anything else unusual go to the doctor. And sometimes that pain can be trapped gas. But if you are in pain that is so bad that you can't move go to the doctor. And if you feel like you just really want to know whats going on go to the doctor. I've had the liquid and the gas usually after surgery though and It hurts and its painful.

Add me to the list of people seeking med attention if I don't feel better by the weekend. dvd0020; go NOW if you have a 24 hour clinic. You may have what I think I have which is pneumonia. I have never had it in my life and am 44 and a 24 yr smoker and so upset about this.....I am not coughing at all but my lungs feel "hard" and stiff and it hurts to take deep breaths. Not extremely bad like I am screamimg "emergency" but a foreign feeling.

I quit vaping 4 days ago and have gotten a lot of improvement but it's not gone away. I can't believe I am praying I have pneumonia but it would at least be curable. Also would make sense as pneumonia is caused from excess moisture in the lungs and I have been vaping in this foreign mist into my lungs for months now.

I hope it goes away whatever it is. A little worried now lol. If vaping caused this, I'm not sure I can keep doing it.

Ahh! Even though it only hurts on one side? It isn't excruciating, just uncomfortable. This sucks. I really don't want to wake up my 3 yr old and drive to the ER... I hope all goes well for you though.

Same here...this is why I am not at the doctor now. Still scary as hell . I am still trying to figure out what a "pleursy" is but holding my breath doesn't help or alleviate it like it's a temporary pressure. Mine is on both sides but I am feeling more stress on the left actually. This has been going on for days with me and I have only missed one day of work this week. I am thinking the unusually cold weather in the East exacerbated it.

As I said I am hoping I have pneumomia (never had it) and caught it early enough that I don't need to be hospitalized. I am actually more scared that if its something vaping related the doctor's won't know how to identify it and I will be sent home. To worry like crazy and to live with vague pain till whenever it goes away?......

Well I woke up this morning and I still had the pain, but it was not as bad. I decided to head to the doctor. sure enough, he said it could be pleurisy. He said since the pain was not as bad this morning to just go home and try to give it a little more time. He sent me home with some pain meds to help while I wait. So, we'll just see what happens lol.

He didn't seem very concerned because I am still able to breathe okay, just harder to take deeper breaths and yawning and coughing sucks lol.

I was also trying to hold my breath. Although it didn't completely cure it, it would help for a bit. I also tried taking deeper and deeper breaths each time, and while it hurt initially to do this, it seemed like I would be able to breath deeper each time. Just kept gradually taking deeper breaths each time... if that makes sense...

dvd0020;

I am glad you got checked out and I hope you feel better. Hopefully the pain killers will be helping you.

I went to a clinic tonight myself after work and they could not find anything obviously wrong. Didn't think I had pleursy or pneumonia and no obvious reason why it hurts to take deep breaths. I am on day 5 of this BTW. EKG was fine and lung X Ray was also good. I don't know what it is and I just hope it goes away. I had a very sleepless night last night worrying about this -glad you were not so serious that you had to wake your 3 yr old :) and I can honestly say I have never felt anything like this before. Please keep us updated.

As a side note, I am really glad to have ECF people around....doc I saw tonight had never even HEARD of E-cigs. I relate to not knowing much about them....but she didn't even know they existed. ...

Thank you for your concern kpax. I still feel the pain when I take deep breaths. Still not as bad as last night, though.

I'm sorry you are still feel this discomfort, especially after 5 days and the doc not being able to find anything. I would say though, after an EKG and an X ray, not finding anything is a better sign then "finding something." I hope all goes well. Keep us posted.

Please go get this checked out immediately! Ny husband had the same exact symptoms as you do 12 years ago. He ended up having viral pneumonia. He spent 3 months in ICU. I am not at all trying to scare you but had I not talked my husband in going to the ER when I did he would not have pulled through this. Please get checked out ASAP.

sorry- I did not read the entire thread before posting. I panicked when I read the first few. Glad that you did get checked out.

Glad to hear you got checked out. My doctor wouldn't give me pain pills he made me do lite arm streches, and breathing techniques.
And kpax glad to hear that your lungs were clear. Did he suggest maybe your muscles could be tight from working in the cold? And you usually know its pnuemonia (most of the time anyway not always though) when you can hear and feel like you are drowning in your own lungs not pleasant.

I just spent 4 days in the hospital with pneumonia. The only symptoms I had was weakness and shortness of breath. My lungs were clear and I could take deep breaths with no problem. It was only when they did a CT scan that they found I had it. I didn't even have cold symptoms! I'm concerned that it may be related to vaping. It started shortly after I got a new flavor and was vaping it heavy. Probably a coincidence but I'll sure be glad when more testing is done on these things.
