Hello Vapers!

I'm a complete newbie to vaping. I have done a lot of research and I have tried to find information on my topic question for this post, but I have not found any information.

I just put a new super mesh x1 ka1 0.2ohm in my Geekvape Aegis Mini mod with the Cerberus tank. I didn't even realize it was a 0.2 as I asked for a 0.3 until I couldn't take the throat burning any longer and decided it would be best to check it.

So, what settings should I set my mod to when using this coil? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm still new.

Thank you so much for considering my post. I truly appreciate it!

General answer is to start off at a low power setting & gradually work your way up taking a few vapes on each setting until you find what you like in vape quality.

Geekvape says, the .2Ω is 'best' at 60 - 80w, try starting a new thoroughly primed head at 35w - 40w & gradually increase power about 2w at a time.

Shouldn't be any throat burning.

The cereus is a Dtl inhale style 'tank', you gotta move a lot of air through it to keep the head cool.

There's good advice above. I'll add a few tips:
  • When you switch to a new type of coil, the suggested wattage is usually written on the box and/or the coil itself. That's the 60 - 80 w @Topwater Elvis mentioned. Recommended wattages are often exaggerated, besides which it's best to start any new coil at a low wattage, so he suggested you start at about half the recommended wattage. That's a good place to start with any new coil.
  • Increase your power gradually until the vape starts getting worse. Then go back down to wherever you liked it best. Don't worry if you end up outside the recommended range - it's just a recommendation.
  • If your throat is still burning, the coil might have been damaged so you'll need a need a new one. Make sure your next coil is well-primed and start with low power to prevent burning it. And don't worry if you have damaged the coil - you're in good company. It's not at all uncommon to burn out a coil or two when you're starting out.

Every atomizer needs a unique blend of power and air to give you the vape that makes you happy. This tuning process sometimes takes me a week or two to get right. Generally the more power you use the more air it will need, but it's a fine balance.
The potential difference between a 0.2 and a 0.3 ohm coil is so small you can consider it irrelevant.

I use 15 - 20 watts with my Cerberus tanks on the Aegis mods. I prefer a cooler vape and frankly don't care how much vapor my setup produces.

As Topwater suggested above, start out at what might appear to be an inadequate wattage setting, and increase the wattage in increments over a short period of time until you find what YOU like.

Hi Vapers!!

Thanks, EVERYONE, for all the AWESOME advice! I can't even begin to explain how helpful everyone's comments were!

I have lowered the wattage on each mod that I use now. I think I have a problem though... I like different mods and tanks and there are soooo many out there that I want to try out! LOL

To look at my desk you would think that I am an ultra-heavy vaper. I have four mods sitting here now. TO be fair, one is the old man's. It was mine, then his, now it's mine again since he discovered the SMOK Vape Pen 22. He really likes that one so he gave me the Geekvape back that my friend gave me that started all of this for me.

I also have an eleaf Istick Pico that my daughter gave me that I like a lot. The only problem with it is the little silver case thing that fits in the recharging slot. It came out with the charging cord and now I have to leave it on said cord or I risk losing it. I don't know if it can be put back in so that it is secure again or not, but I can still charge it the way I have ut so it's all good.

I just got the Vaporesso Tarot Nano in the mail today and it took me a little while to figure it all out. I have it working like a champ now though.

And then there is the "unknown stranger" mod that our son bought for my husband as his first mod. The mod is phenomenal when it comes to holding a charge - the battery life on it is unreal! It's very simple to use and it just does a great job. I put my Nautilus tank from Aspire on that unknown stranger and it works great. We only keep a full spectrum hemp vape juice in that one.

I've been off the cigarettes for a month and 20 days now. It's all because of vaping. I've tried everything else and none of it "took" with me. This, however, has! I am so grateful for this system!

Okay, so I get wordy a LOT (but then so did Tolkien and so does Stephen King). If you have read this far, bless your heart! If you didn't, I totally understand! ;)

Your's in gratefulness,
Stormy
