Can I use 12mg juice in a Geekvape Aegis X?

Hi. I started vaping a few years ago to get away from smoking and have been using 12mg 50VG/50PG nicotine juice in an Innokin Coolfire IV TC100 quite happily, but recently I decided I should have a backup in case this device gets damaged.
So I bought a Geekvape Aegis X 200W TC kit with Zeus Tank the other day, thinking it would be an upgrade, less likely to leak & yet fairly similar. The external battery aspect was an element I wasn't expecting, and I was watching videos on youtube to assess which ones to get, when I came across a box opening video by someone on the channel VPZUK, supposedly an experienced vaper, who said people should be using "0mg or 3mg nicotine at the highest" in the Aegis X. He also recommended minimum 50/50 VG.
Does anyone know if this device is actually unsuitable for me to continue using 12mg juice? I was unaware devices dictated the liquid I can use.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome,
IMO, If you are doubling the power (watts) used and or your resistance is halved, cut your nicotine strength by half.
If you used 12mg/ml with the .5Ω coils of the Coolfire, I suggest you use 6mg/ml (or lower) with the new Zeus tank.
I try to keep my nicotine at a level that will allow me to vape as often as I please.

Whenever someone talks about using __Watts or __mg/ml or __whatever, it is more of a Suggestion than a Hard n' Fast Rule.

I would put that 12mg/ml in your Aegis/Zeus Tank and do what your should do for Any New Set-Up. Dial the Wattage down and the slowly Increase the Watts till it Tasted Best.

Well if your previous atomizer was mouth to lung then yes probably the 12mg nic on the Zeus subohm tank and direct lung may be toooo much and need to half the nicotine or lower it... and 50/50 juice also on those coils may cause some flooding cause they have big juice holes and they are meant for higher VG juices but that depends the temperature where u live and other factors...

But if I was you I would try first and see how it goes cause it really matters how u vape also....

Ok so I just saw and seems the coolfire was coming with a direct lung atomizer also so I don't see any problem....
Maybe it's more common to vape 3mg with those devices cause they produce lot of vapor but many people vape 6mg or more...
Vaping the lowest wattage coil of the zues and adjusting even lower than the recommended wattage for the coil will be just fine...enjoy :vapor:

Okay, thanks everyone. After I receive the batteries I'll try out the 12mg juice I'm already using on different wattages and see where I'm at. Wasn't sure if I was gonna need to return it because I vape for the nicotine and being recommended 0 to 3mg was definitely a no go.

You definitely can use your regular juice in the Zeus, but the catch is that you probably won't want to - not that you want to go all the way down to 0 nic either.

The 3 mg/ml isn't really the drop you might think it would be. The difference is that the Zeus tank and coils probably vapourize juice a lot faster than the tank you're using with the Coolfire. That means that to get the same amount of nicotine in a puff from the Zeus as you were with the Coolfire, you'll actually have to drop your nicotine level.

Coolfire: Not as much juice per puff, so more nicotine per ml
Zeus: More juice per puff, so less nicotine per unit of juice

Anyway, I (and others) have found the rule of thumb with vape juice is that whatever works for you is right. Play around with it, see what happens and what you like. Then, enjoy!

Yes, backups are essential. And a backup for the backup. That goes for mods AND tanks. I use only replaceable battery mods (external) since all batteries will eventually fail. Built in, good luck having more than a fancy paperweight!

Keep in mind that unless you're using some proprietary connection, almost any topper will work on almost any mod. MOST are 510 connection, and are compatible. So you're not stuck with whatever tank comes with a mod kit.

Good advice above. YOU decide the strength, not someone else. We're all different, have different wants and needs. Suggestions, yep.

In general, going from MTL to DL does produce a LOT more vapor, so as @Superuser187 and @Hawise have mentioned, so you MAY want to reduce the nic %.

Me, well, I happily tootle along at 18 mg/ml, sip maybe 4 mls a day, and am nearing 9 years as a non smoker.

Yes, whatever works, and good luck on the journey :)

Just curious... what flavors do you like? I'm asking because I also do DIY (make my own juices) and sometimes "adjust" pre-made juices to reduce nic level. One example: you have 12 mg/ml 50VG/50PG juice... add some VG to it and it will reduce the nic and increase the VG ratio (easy fix) You will have to do some math but we can help with that. Another example: maybe you have some fruit flavors (once again 12 mg 50/50) add some "creamy" flavor juice (0 mg 70VG/30PG) If I knew what flavors you like, I can suggest some options.
Or just get some 6 mg juice and use that in the Zeus and continue using 12 mg in the other tank. Maybe vape 12 mg early in the day then switch to 6 mg (you can always switch back if you feel the need)
BTW, you can get VG (glycerine) at drug stores (make sure it says "USP") Costs more than ordering a larger bottle online but it would be an easy way to try it now.
