Can I add a little distilled water to a 70/30 or 50/50 blend to lower the nicotine content?

I will eventually blend it with a lower strength juice but I'm hoping for a short-term fix at the moment...

To make a long story short, I am new at vaping. I'm not doing DIY juice (yet? LOL) but I figure I'll probably get a great answer in this part of the forum.

I ordered a kit and some juice, everything is working well and I have barely had any analogs since I got it last Thurs. I was eager to try new flavors so I already placed *another* order for a juice sampler, a few replacement heads and a different carto, etc, - stuff I learned I would need by the end of day 1.

So here is my dilemma. Most of the juices I have now are 24mg, some are 18mg. At this point I am basically chain-vaping a lot and I'd like to continue because it is keeping me away from the analogs. The problem is that there is too much nicotine and I am getting symptoms of overload.

As I said, I figure I can get a lower strength juice the next time I order stuff, but I really want to put off ordering again for as long as I can since I basically have everything I need.

I have read that you can use distilled water to thin out pure VG juices. Most of what I have in house is 70/30, and the new sampler pack I am getting this week in the mail is 50/50.

Is it safe for me and my equipment to add a little distilled water to these juices just to lower the nic content so I can keep chain-vaping? And if so, how much? And are there any other alternatives that I may have on hand (aka vodka)

I realize it will effect the flavor, vapor, TH, but I'm not too concerned about that right now, I will take what I can get as far as that goes. (edited to add - I am using an ego-C twist and a Spinner with clearos now, and am getting some Type A atomizers/carts in the mail tomorrow.

I would appreciate any advice of what I can do for a few days or a week or so rather than ordering even more stuff. I need to pace myself!

And the only B & M shop here uses a proprietary system, no juice for sale.

Thanks in advance!

Any thing you add to juice will lower nicotine. It is usually termed mg which is shortened from mg/ml so the more ml's you had the smaller the mg/ml will be. It will also dilute the flavoring.

Yes, you can add distilled water to your juice. It may not work well with your equipment so experimenting with small batches would be the first thought. There is a balancing act with water to juice. Some say it's a small percentage and some say it can easily be over 10%, but even if we take the 10% that means your nicotine level will still be 90% of what you started with which isn't a real significant drop. I think the balance has some to do with taste and some to do with equipment, so if you go this way start at the low end because it's easier to add water. (Though I don't know why it's harder to add more juice, but my brain says it's easier to add water.)

Another thing to think about is that even Walmart carries USP VG near their bandaids. Humco brand as I remember and it is marketed as a skin protectant. The label says VG & USP and I've used it. Not my favorite VG, but it works. It is thick enough that adding distilled water is a good idea. This could, by itself or with water added, be used to drop the nicotine level even more than water alone. You could even do a 50/50 premixed juice/USP VG and halve the nicotine. Obviously the flavor will be diluted as well.

Those are the first quick and fairly cheap options that came to mind...

My pleasure. Hopefully you'll report back and let us know how things went.

I made it to Rite Aid and they have a house-brand of Glycerin USP so I bought that and it is working great, no more jitters from overdoing it. I'm too much of a noob to have any profound insight but it works and that is good enough for me! It was $6.50 for 6 ounces, and that alone is making me seriously consider advancing to DIY juice someday. But for now I need to figure out what I like and this little bottle is gonna help me get there.

Thanks again!

Glad to have found this post, I too have been vaping 18mg for a month and now it seems too much, (yeah! No cigarettes and weaning off the nicotine too!), will get some VG and thin it out a little! Thank you both!

Cool, I'm glad you found a helpful tip in here!

I also found this link which was pretty helpful as far as understanding the whole VG/Glycerin USP thing:

Dunno if you are interested in all that detail but there it is, if you are.
