Hi I'm new to vaping and wondering how to avoid the burnt taste. I'm using a Joy Tech delta 2 with an eleaf istick tc40w. I've tried various airflow, juice flow, wattage and temp settings but I seem to be getting a burny taste after a day or so. Could my coil be burning out that quick or am I doing something wrong? I've also tried two types of juice.

Hi Redwinger,

Watch out for the following:
- Let the coil prime first - sit in juice for 10 minutes or so before vaping on a new coil the first time.
- If it taste burnt you might want to change it and lt it prime ;)
- use less thick juice - maybe high VG might not be suitable for that device
- use less power. In general use low wastage and work your way up to a comfortable taste level over time.

Are you chain puffing? If you take a puff too quickly after another you may not be allowing the cotton to resaturate.

When you taste a burnt taste are you priming again? Anytime this happens to me I take a few puffs without pressing the button and the burnt taste goes away. Sometimes the cotton doesn't have time to get soaked again. Chain puffer here. :)

You could be turning the wattage too high for the coil you are using. Try lowering your wattage.

I had this problem and found proper priming a help, but switching to a %100 VG juice (rather than PG) REALLY solved the issue for me.

I really would not recommend a high VG ratio juice in stock coil heads. Usually too thick to wick properly, unless you add some distilled water to it.

I recently bought the eGo ONE Mega (two weeks ago and it is my first vape system) and I don't know a lot about vaping
but I have smoked 2 packs a day for over 40 years so I'm giving it a try. I had that nasty burning in the back of the throat
and the guy at my local shop suggested a 100% VG liquid that seems to work very well in my system. It vapes well.
I have a .5 ohm atomizer (which I don't know if that's good or bad) but the new juice got rid of the burnt taste.
I'm always open to recommendations on juices, vape systems, technical, etc... because I am determined to get off
these Marlboros if it's the last thing I do, I welcome any replies.
Thanks, John in Ohio

Losing the PG in your juices will certainly lessen the throat hit/burn. The OP is saying that their coils are actually burning which is usually a sign of improper wicking. If your stock coils are working with 100% VG and you're satisfied then vape on. Usually, though, A very thick juice will not function very well in stock coil heads as it doesn't wick up the cotton/silica quick enough before the next firing leaving a bad burnt taste, aka a dry hit.

I'm also not opposed to trying a different PV. There seems to be a general favor of the ELeaf iStic systems and the Varno V3 or V5. Being so new to vaping
I admit I don't know what is best. I want a reliable system with airflow control, and possibly some voltage / wattage control options. Maybe I should be
in a different forum area but I'm new here and still feeling my way around. If this forum is anything like the forums I'm in regarding other topics
(guitar forums, RC plane forums, VW Beetle forums) I'm sure there will be a lot of differing opinions and I'm hoping I can sort through the mess and
achieve my goal of quitting analogs altogether. Thanks

Yes this is a great forum with sub forums concerning every aspect of E-cigs. You're in the right place.

As soon as you get 5 posts in the New Members area then you can post in the other Sub-forums. Feel free to pose any questions here or even start a new thread with a question regarding suggestions on anew device. Everyone loves to enable people in buying new gear.

Welcome and have fun

Friends,
It seems that every other day my rig tastes like hell. Even unusable.
It gets VERY harsh and has no flavor behind the vapor.
I go to the vape shop and they mess with it and it gets right again.
I'm using the Kanger Subox kit. Could I be doing something wrong
during my daily use that gets it out of whack?
Thanks
John

Well what do they do?
Do they just change the coil?

Maybe your coil just gets gunked up after a day or two.
That would not be unusual is you vape a lot, and especially is you vape dark think liquids.

That is why people end up using so-called 'rebuildables'; easy to dryburn and rewick;

I do believe you can get rebuildable (RBA) coil heads for the delta2.
Just pop in a fresh head every day or two, and clean the used head at your convenience.
