So i have been vaping abit over 2 weeks now. I think it took me longer than the average bear to figure out how to vape correctly. I am finally getting it down, but there is still tweaking that need to be done.

My question is have any of you experienced burnt lips? Just from habit I vape with my vaporizer a lil to the right of center in my mouth. I have developed a "rawness" area on bothmy upper lip and lower lip right where I place my PV. For at least a week I sucked juice constantly but have gotten it down to maybe just once or twice a day i will accidently suck juice. All I was doing when I sucked some juice was wipe off my mouth and continue to vape which usually let me hit my PV once or twice more then again with the sucking juice\wiping mouth routine. Now when I suck juice, I take out the cart and wipe it down and also swap out the inside of the mouthpiece with a q-tip and then I don't experience the sucking juice until I refill my carts.

So has anyone else experienced this or is it my worst nightmare and I got mouth herpes from someone I let use my PV? That seems ridiculas, but I have never read anywhere where someone "burnt" their lips by sucking juice.

Gawd I really hope some of you have burnt yer lips too, the alternative is freaking nasty!

I think it's a chemical burn. It might be the nicotine, or maybe VG if you use that.

I have a bottle of Vegetable Glycerin that has a warning about possible blistering if applied directly to skin.

What equipment are you using? Folks may have experience with reducing juice in the mouth.

no it's not from wiping to hard, the only area that is raw is right where I place my PV. As to why I get so much juice, I dont really know. When I was smoking analogs, people were always amazed at how fast I finished a cigarette. I hit em hard and long and I think that is what was causing me to get juice so often. Now that I have gone to a real soft draw, I don't have the juice on lips problem unless the cart is overfilled. I have an Evo and was putting 13-15 drops in the cart, then when I went to attach the cart to the battery\atomizer, the atomizer would push out some of the liquid as I was pushing it down into the cart. I have since learned to just drop 8 drops into the cart and that seems to alleviate some of the sucking juice issue. Still(out of habit) draw on it sometimes to hard but I am working on that. Also the juice I am using is 24mg, not sure if that makes a diff or not. Tried to cut it down to 12mg with PG, but the throat hit disappeared and the vapor went WAY down. anyways...

My lips get chapped alot from using my PV. I am constantly putting on chap stick. If you use chapstick it may seal your lips some.

It does sound as if you are having some kind of reaction to the liquid on your lips though. Use the chapstick, vape on the other side, immediately rinse off any liquid on your lips and see if it helps. Try not to get the liquid on your lips. Don't overfill and take slow and steady draws.

Hope you figure it out. Good luck.

reading the common symptoms made me feel a little better. Seems that others have experienced something like what I am, except they were getting sores inside their mouth.

As to the chemical burn taking time, ya this is exactly what happened, I was vaping for a good week and a half before i started to get a lil tenderness on my lips, so it didn't just happen all at once. I really have to stress though, that I sucked ALOT of freaking juice. Wasn't just like once or twice a day it was happening once or twice an hour for at least a week. Wasn't really concerned with it because I figured that was the price I had to pay to get a good throat hit. Going to be reading up on VG as this may be the culprit or it may be the nicotine, not sure. Went with the VG liquid because I wanted the vapor production, but I have since just vaped pure PG and the vapor was almost as good as the VG e-liquid. Not sure really what the issue is but i am sure I am to blame for it. Didn't take the warnings of "get it off your skin quickly" very serious. Now i know.

A chemical burn can happen over time before there is pain or visible damage, I know from personal experience with solvents, cleaning products, and fuels. It could take repeated contact over time depending on the chemical, concentration, and your sensitivity.
Amen to that! Paint thinner gets me all the time! Even when I think I was being safe with latex gloves on,....nope, didn't catch any trickle that eventually found my wrist.

The rawness is only on your lips, not in and around the inside of your cheek where liquid too seeps in? Wouldn't those areas be the first to show any signs of a chemical reaction? The insides of your mouth are quite sensitive and porous. I'd go see the doc.

Chemical burns, allergies are nothing to play with if your still going to continue to vape.

I agree, but I think saliva rinses it away inside the mouth, but on the lips, not so much saliva.

(BTW the refreshed thing seems to be OK now)

lol! Yeah, forgot to update the sig!lol

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Saliva is the first defense to kill bacteria, so I can see this working in a similar fashion.

Still, I'd go to the doc. Could be a the first sign of something far worse....and then again, could be nothing. Better safe than sorry is my practice, although not everyone's.

Try to not pull too hard. If your cheeks are also sore that may be what you're doing. You want a nice, long drag, everytime. The difference between the cigarette (hard draw, more smoke) and PV is totally opposite. To heat the atomizer fully for the best vapor production is more Time, not more pull. Pull just hard enough to light it up!

Bryan:

I was wondering what type of vaporizer you are using. It isn't one of the tiny ones that you are using hands free is it? I was just thinking that from what you say about hitting it so hard, that you are a canidate for one of the larger, hard hitting, massive vapor manual battery vaporizers. If you don't have one maybe you should consider one. They would probably be more satisfying to you.

Not sure why you would get juice in your mouth so much though...

In the early days with my DSE 801, I was getting juice in my mouth way too often. I found that vaping with this ecig pointed somewhat downwards eliminated these problems. (what do you know? Just like they said in the directions!? LOL) Changing batteries more often also helped a lot in this regard. Not nearly as much of an issue with my throw-away cartridged PR111.

Sounds like mouth herpes for sure! :p

Did you mention what PV you're using or did I miss that in my quick read through?
