Brother P-Touch Tips?

Just bought one...I know it probably varies from model to model but anyone have any tips for a noob at this thing? Trying to print small and not waste tape!

Set the width small. It will leave less white space on the edges

Both. I like the print at 1/2 width and margins small. It will print nice and small and not leave much on the edges

With print size set to Small, you get 2 rows of text easily, in little space. I can print "Markfm 24mg BlkCherTob 65PG" in a label that fits cleanly on a 6 ml bottle (I do a new line after the 24mg).
I will normally press the cutter button early, when I can just see the "65" starting to come out of the labeler, so as not to waste tape. Otherwise you end up with a fair amount of excess. The PTouch throws an error message when you do this, but is entirely fine; you can press the Print button again to reprint, or the backspace button to get back to the text, etc. I've been using mine this was for months without problems.

I loaded my last paper backwards.............so all of my labels ended up being clear writing with a black background for a while...............lmao.
I love the p touch though.

I cut it early as well. That tape is just too expensive to waste

Thanks all! I'm thinking of printing a bunch of labels WITHOUT cutting...just leave a space or two between what will be my labels. Then when the strip comes out of the printer, I'll cut manually. That should leave me with very little waste.

That's how I do it.

Hairball...you must be a genius!!!

set the print setting to "Chain print" then you can print the label and not cut, then change the text to make a new label and print, then keep changing the text and printing ... just remember to feed (shift + Print on my model) before you cut on the last label. That's how I save tape.
