Anyone know the cause of brain fog and other wierdness? Any amount making you sick and other kinds of wierdness like that? And I'm not talking about with people who are just starting or switching from cigarettes.
I'm suspecting probably:
1. contaminants, hexane, cyclohexane, kerosine, petroleum ether, chloroform, ether, and ethanol (alcohol), are all sometimes used in the extraction process.
Or possibly
2. Higher or lower heat, could change how it's absorbed or something.
3. PG/VG ratio, can change how it's absorbed. This will probably be different for different people. Some people like high PG, some people like high VG, some people like a mixture. How nicotine's absorbed depends hugely on what it's suspended in

If there's anyone who has a variable temperature device, they could test the heat one. They could change the heat up and down and see if it creates any wierdness

I believe, as you know, this would especially be personal. So others doing test and such may not help you too much with this. If it were me personally, I’d ask myself if I’ve introduced any new flavors into my mixing as of late, do any flavors contain ethyl alcohol I may not have breathed / steeped off, have I done anything any different what so ever recently in my DIY mixing, etc. Also, I’d consider other health related possibilities. Best of luck in figuring this out!

Flavours create problems for me and so does pg.
Lower wattts, higher ohm, VG and DW mix and Im feeling pretty damn sharp. A friend cant vape much more than 3mg (mtl, low watts, high ohm) without feeling a bit of fluffiness in his thinking
Perhaps simply a matter of working out nicotine levels?

Im fine with 3mg to 18mg if I use unflavoured VG and DW.
For some reason my buddy doesnt feel good using anything more than 3-4mg. He does use more juice than I do. He also uses unflavoured but with PG instead of DW.

People are just different. Whats good for one isn’t good for all. I know a guy who literally gets sick if he vapes higher than 3mg. To avoid ill side effects when vaping more frequently, he often vapes 1.5. When he’s alone and/or vaping less, he uses 3. I use 3 and vape a lot. Though my body will let me know when I need to slow down for a few. On the other hand, I know others who vape higher (6-12) who say they get headaches if they go too long without vaping. Either way, I think it’s important we listen to our bodies. Of course, I’d first rule out any medical possibilities.

Not necessarily foggy thinking, but if I go any lower then 15mg/ml I find all I want to do is chain vape. And all my time is spent worrying about the next time I can vape. So, 20mg/ml at about 18w is it for me. At that rate I can then go a few hours without vaping or thinking of vaping. So, that is my weirdness.

That's like me.....I vape 24mg and any lower I'm vaping and vaping. I don't necessarily like breathing in vapor, so the less I vape the better. I average about 2mls per day, which imo is better then 8 mls of 6mg nic juice. But I vape mtl and if one is vaping dtl at much higher wattages, then they really have to vape lower nic, so finding that sweet spot is key

In my experience, if the liquid hasn't steeped long enough it makes me gag/sick sometimes. Also if the liquid contains any alcohol.
Chain vaping also can make you feel sick also, expecially combined with the stuff above in my case.

I routinely air cure any liquid i make when the flavors use alcohol as the flavor carrier. I shake the dickens out of it and let it sit for a while with the cap off, that helps the alcohol evaporate.

I've had one hotspot problem when I did not mix my nicotine enough and a single bottle of liquid came out very high nicotine. But for the most part I like the nicotine buzz and that's why I vape :)

I have found that the flavorings are what give me the biggest problem. I haven't found a coffee flavor juice in 10 years that does not give me an instant pounding headache. Fruit flavors give me a bit of a brain fog, but for me the reaction is so quick that there is no question what the cause is.

If you are having symptoms no matter what juice you are using, you might try cutting your mils per day down slowly and see if you reach a daily volume that doesn't cause the fog.

Um if you haven't been at this that long, all you describe may MERELY (and merely is probably not the right word) be as a result of stopping tobacco. Smoking and vaping have similarities but also LARGE differences..

I found this to be a helpful resource as I detoxed off my 3 ppd habit:

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/a-list-of-symptoms-when-quitting-tobacco-and-changing-to-an-ecigarette.3305/

I mean, too, some of this is LONG term stuff, I had a period of feeling AMAZING before my thyroid tanked, and I really have NO CLUE how much longer it would have taken to figure it out without that particular post.

I'm not saying it ISN'T flavors/nic level./whatever, I am PG sensitive and found that out via vaping, so I made adjustments, and PG sensitive or not, well, I am going to guess you MAY and WILL want to make adjustments along the way.. Probably.

WTA was SUPER helpful for me starting out vaping. SUPER helpful for detox (although trust me I detoxed anyway, etc.)

Here's a blog to read, it's fairly comprehensive.

Whole Tobacco Alkaloid E-liquid | E-Cigarette Forum

Manufacturers include (in order of efficacy that *I* have found, also in descending price) include Aroma's (this is the gold standard and it's priced a bit like gold, I used it during my initial quit, and it was worth it in my opinon) Ohm's vapes and Umbavape (I think these companies are connected somehow but Ohm's sells wholesale WTA that in my opinion is rather similar to Umbavapes in appearance and effect, and Mother's milk.

Mother's milk is the least pricey (well, except when Ohm's has crazy sales on 120 ml bottles that also include its wholesale WTA) but mother's milk, in my opinion looked, performed, and tasted exactly like dirt.

Best of luck,

Anna
