I guess it's a pretty simple question. Which kanthal is the best for the rebuilding of my subtank mini.... What Guage, regular kanthal or twisted, or that other spring looking one? I'm looking for about a .5 Ohm result. I have a Subtank Mini sitting on an Aspire sub Ohm battery , so no variable wattage there.... Any advice?

My ST Mini RBA Deck build...

26 gauge, Regular A1 Kanthal, 5 wraps, Spaced, 2 mm ID = .5 ohms....

Almost a perfect replica of the pre-installed coil that came with the ST mini.

26 AWG, 5 wraps with 2.0 ID, wicked with cotton bacon. Perfect .5 ohms, granted mines leaning a tad bit but it performs perfectly.

Might want to try a Clapton-type wire with some 32ga Kanthal wrapped around a piece of Ni200 or Ti wire to preserve TC, or use regular a old Kanthal Clapton wire if VW is good enough for you. I have been using Clapton coils since I found out about them; I think they really enhance flavor. Clapton wire is thicker than normal wire, so on tanks with a small deck the number of wraps you can make can be limited. I see by the thread most of the folks here like spaced coils, but I generally get better results with contact coils using Clapton wire. YMMV, of course. I wick with organic cotton balls, but I have a piece of rayon coming in vape mail to give it a shot.

I don't use Kanthal because I don't like the Taste of it. I prefer NiChrome 80. But for Gauge, Kanthal and NiChrome 80 perform similarly.

26ga is a Pretty Good Call for around .5 Ohms. And 28ga works well as an All Around, General Purpose, gauge.

Kanthal Wire (and NiChrome 80) is Pretty Cheap. And you can pick up 100' for Less than 1 Pack of Cigarettes.

So I wouldn't be Afraid to Experiment with buying a Couple Different Gauges and Alloys to try Different types of Builds.

Great for doing "What If" builds.
