We just got a pug puppy saturday and yesterday when I was taking her out I wasnt thinking and had my prodigy with the drip tip on it in my hand and I THINK I saw her lick the tip while I was hooking up her leash. 1 minute later outside she plopped her .... on the ground very strangely and started to shake. I took her inside and held her and after 2 minutes she stopped and got real tired. My guess is a seizure and it happened right after she licked my drip tip.

She is only 3 pounds and even the smallest of drops can do crazy stuff to animals. I have a feeling thats what caused the seizure. I could be wrong but it is weird it happened with in a minute of when she licked it. Just about made me cry to see her like that. :(

I wouldn't be too terribly worried about the pup. Small dogs like that have a tendency to start shaking randomly anyhow, they get cold easily, sometimes shiver for no real discernible reason.

I guess you'll know if she got some nic in her if she gets into your ecig supply trying to get a fix...

Sorry to make light of your scare, but the idea of a pug with an ecig in its mouth is hilarious to me.

My cat loves e-juice, which I have heard is unusual for cats. I have read that dogs like the sweet taste.

I have to be very careful around my cat. Just like with kids all my e-juice is out of his reach, unless he wants to risk breaking his neck. I wash my hands constantly anyway because I can't stand the feel of the juice on my hands, but if he can he will try to lick my fingers. My cat is not the type to lick anyone.

Sorry about your puppy. My daughter has a big problem with her dog. He eats anything he can get a hold of. She already had surgery to remove a sock in her intestines. Shes constantly pulling her underwear out of the dogs throat thats already half way down.
Kids and animals!

Unless you're vaping some really high mg stuff, I also doubt that a quick lick of a driptip would have caused the shakes. And if it somehow had, I don't think the skakes would have manifested themselves so quickly and also subsided so quickly. It's more likely the puppy was nervous from going outside, and you were nervous about the possibility of poisoning your new fur-baby. And holding her for a bit soothed both your fears! :) But, it's probably a good thing that you are now more aware of keeping your ecig stuff out of reach of the pup.

I know a puppy who is getting scubby snacks for the whole summer.Really that stinks, I left a bottle of no nic juice somewhere at a bar and still think it could be a problem to someone or thing that comes upon it.

What possible kind of problem do you imagine a bottle of no nic juice could cause? Just curious..

No idea what kind of problem it could cause but dont think it would be 100% safe for a kid or animal to eat/drink it.Alergy to stuff or a bad reaction come to mind. The no-nic did make the worry a whole lot less. Some copper may think it was drugs and test it on my tax dollar too.

I don't believe that kids or pets should be in a bar to begin with. But the copper worry for testing on my buck is a worry.

tI Will Kill A Pet Quickly...

What is in 0 nic juice that will kill a pet? PG? Don't think so since the study that I read about where they exposed mice to PG vapor only made them gain a little weight.. VG? Seriously doubt it. Candy flavorings? Nah.
I have a new puppy, an older dog and 4 cats. Oh yeah, and 2 rabbits. I keep my juice bottles in a drawer but my only concern is the nicotine. I mix this stuff myself so I know what's in it.

You're conflating two separate things. The zero-nic liquid was a different story from a different poster. The OP was worried about his dog that may have sneaked a quick lick of his driptip which did have nicotine liquid in it. But I don't think the amount of liquid that could potentially be absorbed under those circumstances would have caused the pooch any ill-effects.

But yes, PG is actually a common ingredient in dog food.

I was... experimenting... one day last week, had a bottle of juice open and took the dripper top off (dont ask), and it was just sitting there on the counter waiting for me when without looking I knocked it off with my hand. Just so happens at the same time one of my Tiny Titans (I have two that are 11lbs and when they play its like the clash of the tiny titans) was passing by minding his own business and walks right under the tumbling bottle. A good 75 to 80% of the full bottle ended up all up in his fur. Then the other Tiny Titan comes running over like someone dropped a steak and start licking his fellow Titan clean. I separate the two throw the now wonderful smelling pup to the girlfriend and jump in the truck with the Lapping Lickster and headed to the vet. With 9 dogs you become good friends with your vet. When I arrived he gave him a look over and said to keep an eye on him. Not once did he ever showed any problems.

Lucky the licker is a little over a year and Bill the lickee is a little over 2. A dogs body isnt that far off from our own. So my experience tells me unless they down a good bit they should be fine. The amount one would keep in a drip tip I highly doubt would hurt a dog or cat unless they are highly sensitive to nicotine.

What a cute Pug!! Shes got some big paws. Or at least it looks that way. Pups can be funny at times. Shakes and sudden stop sits with the look of WTF? are pretty common place, especially with smaller breds. Being a Pug I would be more concerned about its breathing and gas than e-juice consumption but thats just me.

I vape 36mg. For a small 3 pound puppy I doubt it would take much at all to make it sick but you might be right about she just got nervous or something.

No I wasn't. I quoted doots who was responding to this comment from someone else "What possible kind of problem do you imagine a bottle of no nic juice could cause? Just curious.."
No confusion that I can see.

My cat loves Oreos, cheez nips, saltines, chex mix, ensure, boost, and bugles but she won't get NEAR my e-juice lol!

Doots was responding about the dog who licked the driptip that did have nicotine, and probably should have trimmed the quote to remove the unrelated comment about the 0-nic left in a bar - which is what you apparently/understandably thought he? was talking about.

Obviously nicotine should not be given to pets or children but accidents do happen. Dogs in particular have a habit of chewing up cigarettes when they find them.

Proplylene glycol should never be given to cats. It causes Heinz Body anemia and is the reason that PG is not found in cat food. It is safe for dogs and children.

Vegetable glycerin is safe for cats, dogs, and children.

My philosophy is that when in doubt, take the pet to the vet. (With 4 cats we know our vet rather well!) :)

This is a great topic and should be discussed more.
Nicotine is something you don't want to be careless about.
It only takes a small amount to kill an infant. Kristin posted some alarming figures about that somewhere. I'll dig them up.
I don't understand why people are vaping in concentrations higher than 24mg unless they're just starting to kick analogs. 18mg is considered "high strength" by most vendors. 24mg is "ultra high strength" by a few.
Yes. Wash your hands when around pets and keep your stuff locked up when children are in the house and out of reach when there's pets.
I haven't heard of anything catastrophic happening yet but but it's only a matter of time.
It's a good argument for having the FDA step in and regulate.

Check out the worker's attire in the photo from this article. It tells me a lot.
