The 25R's or any 20amp CDR batteries, the 30Q's just wouldn't push any higher than the 25R's, in the Alien can only go up to about 100watts
130 to 140ish you'd be looking at the LG HD2, HD2C, HD4, or Sony VTC5A, all 25amp CDR
160 to 170ish you'd be looking at the LG HB2, HB4, or HB6 30amp CDR

Sorry you bought into SMOK's over-hyped stats of their higher end devices, their specs just can't perform with current battery technologies.

Hi smudge,
potencia_apv-jpg.670599

How to lead with regulated devices
The 25R and the 30Q are both great 20a cells. I went with the Q's for a bit more battery life.
Do you buy from Torchy?

Cheers

The market is awash with choices.
A decent entry level squonker can be had for less than 50£.
If you are not bothered by the wait, our friends in China can save you a bit more.
I'm still using a 2014-15 SL/LP black Anodized Grand/MantaV2 on top.

Careful, the rabbit hole is VERY deep.

Im still stuck imfire3605 post and canot make my mind up,but im looking at the LG HB2's/HB'6 for the 160w there both 1500 Mah,output, but will they be ok for my normal 55w vape, or will i be looking at diffrent ones ?

That's the trade off. High current, lower capacity. Will they work at 55W? Of course. But you will be recharging them more frequently. If you can live with that, it's fine. Best protection for any choice is to buy 4, make 2 pairs that are used together and charged together (married) and rotate as needed. Use an external charger to charge one set while happily vaping on the other, and if you're out and about for a longish period of time, have a fully charged backup pair with you (in a plastic battery box, not loose in your pocket).

I vape anywhere from 130w to 150w with two of the LGHG2's in the Alien with the CB no problem. (other than the fact the Baby Beast is a much nicer atty for taste than the Cloud Beast) The Alien cut out when I tried to take it over I think it was 160w as I believe its max amp cutoff kicked in. You can't actually get it up to 220w's to the atty without increasing the resistance of your coil but if you do that you would never vape it at so high a wattage. It is a bit of a cheat but they all play it.

The wattage ratings are listed if you run the mod and batteries down to low battery charge. The Alien takes batteries down into the 2.8 to 2.9v per battery range where most other mods the lowest before a check battery error is about 3.0 to 3.2v, average 3.2v per battery. 0.3 to 0.4v may not sound like much but it can make drastic differences in amperage pulled from a battery, as regulated mods pull peak amps at lower voltage. You could probably push 130 to 140watts on 20amp CDR batteries, but you would be pulling the batteries for recharge at about 50% to 60% battery charge. And it is the watts that is the really deciding factor in a regulated mod, given the amp calculation formula is (Watts Set/Lowest Available Voltage/Mod Control Board Efficiency=Maximum Amps), with the Alien the voltage available range is 5.6v lowest to 8.4v full charge being a dual battery mod, most mod efficiency ratings are about 90% on average, leaving just the watts the only variable to plug in.

55watts set/5.6v/90%=10.9127amps
100watts set/5.6v/90%=19.8413amps
140watts set/7.2v/90%=21.6049amps (about 3.6v per battery charge which is about 50%)

If you really want to run that Cloud Beast you'd better off with a triple or quadruple battery mod like the Wismec RX200/RX200S or the Smok GX350, and probably the best battery to suggest knowing your application in more detail would be the Sony VTC5A (2500mah like the Samsung 25R, but 25amps CDR over the 25R's 20amp CDR), and they are a bit pricey due to limited supply and demand. The LG HB series will run fine at 55w just as well as 140 to 160w in the Alien, just remember higher the watts the more stress on a battery place and they will discharge faster, if you go the HB Series route then I'd suggest at least a 4 bay external charger and 3 pairs of the HB2, 4, or 6 due to their low mah.

25r is one of the best batteries you can get, the vtc5a are okay batteries. I would get the vtc4 instead. Efest batteries are bad, they're chargers are considered some of the best on the market. The Xtar VC4 is a solid charger but it's very important to get a good power supply for it.

Yes, that kit is not really available the UK. The mod would still be OK for multiple batteries though.
Nice price on the VC4. Are you sure it has a mains (AC) power cable. I was looking at them direct from Xtar UK (Bright ideas, Amazon) and they don't have a plug. God forbid.
There are nice priced batteries right now on nextdaybatteries.
You can thank domesticextremist on AAEC for that tip

any reason to go with the vtc4 instead of the vtc5a ?

The VTC4 is rated at 20amps, independent test by our resident battery tester Mooch gave them a 23amp CDR. They used to be the King of batteries back in the mech/rda super-sub-ohm craze as they flexed up toward the VTC3's 28amp CDR rating though it decreased their overall life cycles to do so. The VTC5A with a rated 25amp CDR to begin with would handle more stress and with 2500mah runtime they would last longer on charge than a VTC4's 2100mah. Not to mention being how old the VTC4 is, would hard pressed to trust if they were at the higher end stock that is suitable for high stress application given their recent decline in production or production stopped entirely as the VTC5A is a newer model and pretty much still if full production at a new facility outside the Fukashima disaster zone from a few years back.
