Anyone experienced any type of back pain after quitting smoking OR when the started vaping? It has been 3 days since I started vaping which was also the last time I have had an analog stick as well. While I am very proud of myself for going 72 hours without a cig I noticed yesterday that I had a small pain in my upper right side of my back below the shoulder blade. I am wondering if this is some type of withdrawal symptom or if possibly I am vaping incorrectly and pulled a muscle or maybe when I was coughing up phlegm or if this is all just a coincidence and I did it sleeping funny or something. If it gets worse I would obviously take a trip to the doctor but if this is something others have gone through I can ease my mind a little bit knowing this is just another downfall of smoking for so many years.

Here are withdrawal/vaping symptoms in a sticky here (You cannot post in that section yet - you need 5 non-spammed posts or replies in this section then about an hours wait to be able to post elsewhere)
Health, Safety and E-Smoking

my guesses

Cigarettes contain some chemicals like maybe those MAOIs(?) that might have masked some symptoms you had all along

or

You could just feel out of sorts and achy for a few days from quitting all the chemicals in cigs - take vitamins and your fave non-prescription pain reliever

or

Your posture when vaping may be unnatural, or you bought auto batteries or a weak small ecig so you have to suck harder than someone with manual batteries and a good ecigs needs to

or

You may be dehydrated. Drink fluids! Vaping can be drying. drink some now and remember to drink liquids.

or

You are vaping medium to high nicotine (or vaping an excessive amount of any non-zero nic level) in 100% PG juice and the nicotine is irritating your lungs. Certain flavorings like cinnamon can also irritate the lungs

or

You are overdoing it somehow - too high nic, too much vaping and you have too much nicotine in your system. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. It can affect your blood pressure, cause rapid or irregular heartbeat, etc. Can also cause headaches and unwell feeling.

or

You need to see a doctor

And yeah - coughing that can do it too. Take it easy, try some PG/VG juices like 70pg/30vg for example or 50/50 so they won't be as irritating, if you are using high nicotine consider using some a level lower at times when you are likely to cough (morning etc). 100% PG just doesn't buffer nicotine's skin irritation very much (and prefilled generic carts at multibrand hardware vendors are likely to be PG juice). And remember to drink fluids. If you are sucking hard on an auto battery or an ecig that is not powerful enough for you, consider manual batteries or a stronger ecig.

Think the water intake is okay, I guess I slacked a touch this morning and had a coffee instead of 1 of 2 normal cups of water but I drink a ton of H2O throughout the day. I have been vaping for about 3 days on the ego and have gone through 4 ML of banana cream pie 12MG 50/50 mix from FSUSA. Other than that I had maybe 1.5-2 ML of random juices over the 3 days most of 12MG nic levels so I dont think the nic juices aren't doing this to me. I did purchase 2 ecigs from the get go and the one was real tough to draw on and haven't used it much at all because of that. I felt like I had to suck twice as hard to get anything out of it. I am going to run to the chiropractor and see what he says was just hoping someone would have chimed in and said "yeah dummy you are sucking too hard and pulled a muscle."

Yeah, I get those now and then, both before and after I started vaping.
All I have to do is move, turn, reach, or twist the wrong way.

I use them as an excuse to not work out for a couple of days.

Well the chiro said I likey pulled something in my back probably trying to draw too hard. He threw some heat on it gave it a quick rub and cracked my back. Said take 3 advil when I get home, another 2 before bed and ice the spot for 10 minutes 3 times throughout the night and that tomorrow is should feel 70-80% better. If it doesn't call him tomorrow.

We will see what happens, I am also going to stop vaping the bannana cream pie for tonight and try and find something else. If the cream pie is a problem I am going to be so dissapointed since that flavor has been my go to guy and is a big reason why I am not smoking right now. The only other flavor I have kinda enjoyed was some bobas bounty but the bottle I got is 24MG and I really was trying to not use stuff that high unless I had a major craving.

madduxsports, I myself have a lot of back pain issues left over from a car accident many years ago. What you are describing sounds like a muscle spasm to me. Like cowfodder said, it might have been made worse by not having enough water in your system when vaping PG. I hope you are getting some relief, spasms can be very uncomfortable. If you're not on any pain killers (other than the advil, good call by the chiro BTW) or muscle relaxers, have a beer or glass of wine; it often helps me when I get a spasm. Alcohol can be a very good muscle relaxer when taken in moderation. I can honestly say I feel your pain: I've got a spasm in my left lumbar right now.

Welcome to the forums! To your health :toast:

i have experienced as you mentioned in your post. It started a couple of days after i started the e cigs. I thought maybe i had been sitting wrong when on my laptop or something. It is the right side of my back, right under my shoulder blade as well. I do not think that is a coincidence. It is not from smoking real cigarettes or quitting them because i have smoked for 20 years and in between time have quit for months at a time. I am going to lay off of the e cigs to see what happens, but if pain does not subside i will be going to doctor in a cuple of days. Let me know your results b/c it will be helpful. Everything has a sude effect these days. I did have times when i had to pull harder than normal b/c nothing was coming out. Vaping me not be the visio for me.
