I don't know what's going on with this new TFV8 tank. I recently purchased a new Reuleaux rx200s which works great and a TFV8 Cloud Beast tank. I bought 3 replacement coils for $20 and all 3 of them taste burnt when I vape them. So I tried using the Q4 V8 coil that came with the tank and that tastes burnt too. I even learned how to build my own coil with the RBA base and that tastes burnt. What the hell? I primed the .... out of those coils. I don't know why they taste burnt/metallic. I don't think it's the cotton that's burnt it's the fumes from the coil I am tasting. I seriously doubt inhaling that is safer than cigs anyway

So yeah, I only got 1 good TFV8 coil that was nice while it lasted. What a waste of money!

I agree with CoreyDog - it sounds very much like you've burned all of your coils from the get-go - what wattage did you fire them at? Did you just read the 'recommended' wattages on the coils, and then fired it at those? If so, that is why you trashed your coils.

You should always, after priming, start off at low wattages, and then gradually build up the power until you've reached your 'sweet spot'.

Also, the wattages that manufacturers print on their heads are almost always exaggerated by quite a bit.

Wish you hadn't of given up and start smoking again. :( Perhaps the advise given will help? I have found that patience is really needed for this venture. Just the other day I was having major frustrations with one of my tanks and my friend said to me that it seems more trouble than it's worth, but I haven't had a cigarette in so long that to me it WAS worth the trouble.

Going back to cigarettes because of one little problem with your tank reminds me of the many times I quit and went back to smoking. The reason I used was anything because I didn't really want to quit.

There are multiple reasons for burnt taste like not properly priming or starting at too high power and so on. Hopefully you solve your issue and get back to being a former smoker but if not don't worry and be happy because you can lead a smoker to vaping but you can't make them quit!

Good Luck and Vape On Safely................ Or Not?

IMO, the TFV8 isn't amongst the best tanks for someone starting vaping, and just coming of cigarettes - it's more the kind of tank that someone who has been vaping for a while, and has gone through all the M2L tanks etc., and decided that they prefer D2L vaping.

Better starter tanks for someone who's still smoking, who hasn't vaped before would be something more like a Taifun GT2 or a Kayfun v3(+) - something more in that ballpark...

The vape industry likes to push the boundaries. Some of us started vaping (and quit smoking) under 10w using 24mg or 36mg e-liquid. Somebody starting today could do the same thing with even better results than we experienced.
Nobody is forcing anyone to push their vapes to 70, 100, 150 watts - but the juice makers and expensive coils makers are loving the race for power.
It's up to folk to fit in on the ladder where they feel works for them. Nobody really needs to vape at these powers, so you can choose between guaranteed reliability or take a gamble on stuff which is pushing the boundaries. My money goes on products which should work perfectly, so I sit way behind the curve and mostly ignore these things until they have a track record. Smok are innovative and inexpensive, but they don't exactly have years of proven reliability. Then again, Joyetech make some very bad products for the 10-20w vaper, so perhaps nobody actually knows what they are doing... as long as they sell this stuff and convince everyone they are one of the top brands and make loads of $$ they don't care much more than Blu or Vaporfi.

I started at like 20 watts and worked up to 70. It smelled and tasted burnt as soon as I pressed the button. I always start low when I put a new coil in.

When you used the RBA Section, did you Dry Burn the Coils before you put the Cotton in?

Sounds like possibly a bad Oring or maybe the tank needs a good cleaning.

I have about 50 different tanks and the TFV8 full size coils last longer than anything else I have tried by far. I am currently using a 3.5 week old octo coil that I have ran almost 250ml of juice thru @ 120w and it still tastes perfect.

Replace the rings, disassemble and clean the hell out of the tank, then fully prime the coil, fill the tank and let sit for 10 min and start at 20-30w for a couple pulls.

Hi Kjef
What I would suggest to you is that you keep smoking, at least for the present. Start vaping and get used to it, learn about it, and get to a point of trusting the equipment, knowing how to avoid dry hits, having some back up devices, and having juice you like. There is nothing wrong in doing both at once and what you'll likely find is that you will soon be smoking a lot less without even trying. Then when you do finally decide to quit you won't have to do an emergency posting and telling us you relapsed. Don't get too frustrated, do it one step at a time, and only when you're ready.

I'm using the same juice from my cloud beast tank in my topbox mini and it tastes fine when I vape, so the juice isn't the problem.
Why did the cloud beast make you go back smoking then if you already had a spare? We around this forum pay attention to detail. LOL

you can lead a smoker to vaping but you can't make them quit!

I love this and it is so true. I found vaping and immediately quit smoking. My husband still duel uses, vapes around me and smokes if I'm not around. Bought my BFF a starter kit for Christmas, offered her some tips and let her know about ECF, and that's all I can do. The rest is on both of them.

Dual using did not work for me because I thought or was kidding myself I was cutting down but in reality I wasn't. when I finally realized that I just quit cold turkey and dealt with it.
I duel used the first week while finding something that worked for me. Found it and finished my last pack of smokes and will never look back. I'm hoping to find my husband a setup that gives him that same "aha moment." The BFF knows I'm here if she has questions but I have less influence there.

Sorry, no insult meant, but "duel vaping" just brings hilarious thoughts to me. Resolving conflicts by vape dueling is much more civilised than gun dueling :)
