Ni80 is pretty old school. A lot of people can’t use it at all because they’re allergic to nickel. It’s a really common allergy. So common they don’t make costume jewelry out of nickel. Me I went SS a while ago.
Initially all I used is SS316 or ss340 but then I tried out the ni80 and loved it. It keeps working much longer than the SS and keeps its shape better when cleaning them. I also find that the heat up quicker.

Of course these are just my opinions but it works for me. Fortunately I’m still finding quality Ni80 coils and wire. I’ve been using Geekvape, Vandy Vape, Coilogy etc…

If it works it’s great, but some can’t handle it. Iirc like 1/3rd of people are allergic to nickel. It’s more common than hay fever. It’s just something that doesn’t come up very often these days (see jewelry) Ni80 was one of the first temp control metals. Others came along because it was relatively expensive compared to other metals and many simply couldn’t use it. Ni80 is older than stainless. I’ve got old mods that will do ni80 but not SS. They predate it. Vaping one right now actually. I just ignore the temp control. Not my normal habit. I left my daily driver in the car and this was easier than going down for it. It’s a wismec. I don’t think they exist anymore.
